The most beautiful thing about the Internationale is that no matter how the lyrics change (so it rhymes in any language) it always says virtually the same thing. Like us. We are from different places, be of a different race, or gender, or sexuality, and may have different languages, but we all say the same thing, comrade. My favorite version is - /watch?v=elaxY4iufok or google: 3:54 The Invisibles (The Internationale - English) All Power to the People, comrade!!!

The politicians, all heirs of capitalist, developmentalist fascism constantly try to divide the brothers and sisters of two East Asian nations to distract their wrath against the true enemy. One thing noticeable is that they changed the lyrics... A LOT, whereas the Chinese version pretty much sticked with the original French version.
@johnburt79359 жыл бұрын
The 51st Division It is necessary to make the lyrics sound inspiring as well as remain true to the original spirit of the song. For instance, I have written my own English lyrics for what I think is a truly appropriate version for an American audience: All people are created equal With rights to life and liberty The state must be the people's servant that they might be safe and free And if the state should shirk its duty The people then must stand Their right's to alter or abolish it And remake it by their hand See? The meaning and intent are the same, but the phrasing is uniquely appropriate. I also like how it helps to reconcile two of the most vigorous streams of the vast movement of Liberalism.
@The51stDivision8 жыл бұрын
John Burt Certainly. Sometimes the spirit is more important than the actual words. But it would be the best if both the spirit and the original lyrics can be translated. No disrespect though, still a great piece.
@johnburt79358 жыл бұрын
The 51st Division Thanks, but I will defend my version as *also* being a pretty good job of translating the French lyrics into English.
@Weirdeiolu8 жыл бұрын
+The 51st Division Unfortunately it's also the case that some languages just aren't as "flexible" as others, for example more syllables are needed to convey the same meaning, this could also be a reason why the Japanese version is less similar to the original
