I also have a Yashica. Its a Yashica Electro 35 GX. Its my father's old camera, found it collecting dust in his cabinet. Immediately asked his permission to use it, since its just at his cabinet not being used. I quickly searched the PDF copy of its manual, and how to replace the light seal, and how to find a similar battery to the discontinued Mercury battery. Now it works. I love it!

I have a problem with mine, it's also a Yashica Electro 35 but not a GSN (I think it was the very first model of about 1966). The thing is that the shutter curtain only closes once I lift my finger off the shoot button. It's like I litteraly control the shutter speed with my bare hands. Is it something in the mecanism or is it simply that I must control manually every time the shutter speed?
@plusalphastudio4 жыл бұрын
I think you are using bulb mode. Not sure what model you are using, but check on the front of the lens. There are B / auto / flash. If you put it on B, the camera works as yours!

Great! I have same camera but its focus ring is stuck can u help me with that???
@plusalphastudio6 жыл бұрын
Must be some issue with the focus ring. Since this camera has some age, some copy of camera needs repairing. If the focus ring does not rotate than it must be some resin get stuck or got harden. My advice is for that is sending it to repair shop. You can also repair it by yourself by disassembling the lens, but it is not recommended since it has high risk of scratching the lens coating, which you cannot fix, unless changing to another lens. Try to warm the lens part by plastic bag of hot water (DO NOT POUR the water directly toward the lens. Moisture cause mold to grow inside of the lens. DO NOT POUR WATER!). and still not works, then I highly recommend to send the camera to repairing shop. Repairing cost will be differ from the shop you use, and the condition of the camera. but normally where I live, fixing a lens costed me about $30. I hope you fix your camera well, and please let me know!! Thank you.

Lovely presentation of a wonderful camera. Does anybody have any advice as to which I should get between Yashica Electro 35 GS (not GSN) and a Minolta Hi-Matic 7S ? Many thanks in advance
@plusalphastudio6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for enjoying my video! I don't have Minola Hi-matic 7s but I did some search about it. The basic information is as follow; Yashica Electro 35 GS (same as GSN but only without PC socket on hot shoe) Dates: 1973~1977 ASA(ISO): 25~1,000 Focal Length: 45mm Close Focus: 0.8m Aperture: f1.7~f16 Shutter Speed: 1/500~30 seconds Weight: 728.4g Minolta Hi-matic 7s Dates: 1966 ASA(ISO): 25~800 Focal Length: 45mm Close Focus: 0.9m Aperture: f1.8~f16 Shutter Speed: 1/500~B Weight: 725.8g Both camera are very similar camera in function and size. Except the difference between the lens coating (since they are different brand), the major difference is rather the camera can shoot in all manual, and automatic mode or not. Yashica Electro 35 GS works fully in aperture priority mode, which is you change the aperture and the camera decide the shutter speed for you. However, you can take aperture, shutter speed, and fully automatic mode on Minolta Hi-matic 7s. Both are really great camera and you have to look for rather the light meter works. I tried minolata lens before, but it was not my taste (although it is really great lens). If you are ok with not shooting manual mode, yashica electro 35 gs is fine. but if you want to shot manual and auto, minolta Hi-matic 7s is the one for you. have a look at the photos took by both camera. I hope this information is helpful to you!! Thanks!
@_theyojimbo6 жыл бұрын
@@plusalphastudio Wow, thank you so much for this detailed reply! I actually made up my mind to go for the Yashica since the Electro 35 is such a legendary model, I feel like one copy belongs in my modest collection ;). I indeed don't really mind about having no manual mode since I plan to use my Canon A-1 whenever I really want to have full control over my settings, and go with the Yashica when I prefer to keep things a little simpler; set the aperture, focus and boom. I think the Yashica Electro 35 GS will be a great first step into the rangefinder world for me! Thanks for your advice!

Which one is better between yashica electro 35 gsn and olympus mju zoom 80
@plusalphastudio10 ай бұрын
Hmm.. both cameras are good camera haha. Mju is a bit easier to take photo. However, since the lens is zoom lens, the photo quality in mju is a bit less sharp than electro 35. In sum up, mju is for easy and handy photo, and electro 35 is for better quality photo in my opinion! 😄

I need help with my first film camera!! Should I get the yashica electro 35, Ricoh ff 9d, Olympus stylus 80, canonet ql19, or Minolta srt200? Though after your video I am leaning towards the yashica electro :)) I would really appreciate your help!
@plusalphastudio5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Wow so many different camera to consider! I think you need to set the purpose of getting camera first! I haven't used all of them personally, but however, I can tell these are cameras with different categories. You can divide them with 1. Yashica electro 35, Canonet ql19 / 2. Ricoh ff9d, Olympus stylus 80 / 3. Minolta srt300. 1. Yashica electro 35, Canonet ql19: They are both Rangefinder (RF) Camera with non-attachable camera lens. I think these cameras are for people who want to carry around less stuff and want to get decent image quality. I personally have both of them and I prefer yashica a bit better for my taste of picture color. 2. Ricoh ff9d, Olympus stylus 80: Both of them are point and soot camera. You cannot change the lens, however, the Ricoh ff9d has prime lens and Olympus stylus 80 has zoom lens. I always prefer prime lens then zoom lens in the image quality, although the zoom lens is easier and handy to use. I think both cameras are for people who want to have a light and compact camera to carry around. I prefer Olympus stylus 80 although it has zoom lens, because it is much smaller and handy. 3. Minolta srt300: This camera is a SLR camera. Which means it can change the camera lens and change the setting to shoot many different modes. You can take a bulb mode, muti-exposure, and change the lens to different focal length. Furthermore, you can use a camera lens to DSLR or Mirrorless with an adapter. However, it is bit more pricey than other camera that you are considering and need a bit more knowledge to use it fully with all function. I've always wanted this camera but I really have poor eye sight. +650 on both eyes! How easy/hard is it to focus?
@plusalphastudio5 жыл бұрын
The focusing is quiet easy to do. You just match 2 image that you see from the viewfinder. Hmm about the eyesight, I’m not sure how hard it gonna be... Some cameras has diopter accessary that adjust to the eye sight, but not sure this model has it. You can perhaps try to attach other brand’s diopter or use a contact lens. I know how uncomfortable that is because one of my eye has really bad eye sight... Hope you find a way to use this camera!

Can you tell me how can we transfer the photos captured on reel for pc or tv...after we click pictures ?
@slinfx3 жыл бұрын
You need to have a professional retrieve the images from the rolls.. They usually get you the physical images + digital.

I was at a thrift and saw this camera. When I was manually adjusting the aperture the inside of the lens didn’t move. Is that normal?
@plusalphastudio2 жыл бұрын
hmm.. I think it should move..unless it is broken or out of battery

just quick question is it possible to overexpose the image? since its aperture priority o_o thanks for the rundown review lovin it :)
@plusalphastudio3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for loving my video! I guess you can over expose the photo bu setting different asa on the camera. For example putting 200 iso film, and setting higher iso/asa setting like 100 on the camera so that camera use longer stutter speed!

Love the video!!! I just developed my first roll of film using this camera but all my photos have a greenish tint.. do you have any advice for me? I love the way your pictures turned out
@plusalphastudio6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for enjoying my video!! Where are the greenish tint is located? Is it show on the same spot of every photo? If so, I recommend to check the sponge on the back where you put the film. If the sponge is old, you can get a light light leak, which makes a marks (like yellow, green, or white spot or lines). Check the sponge, and check the lens! If it is a sponge problem, it is an easy fix! Please let me know how it goes!

안녕하세요! 이 카메라랑 미놀타 하이매틱 7s랑 엄청 고민중인데 제가 카알못이라 이 둘중에 초심자가 쓰기에 좋은거 추천해주세요!
@plusalphastudio4 жыл бұрын

Hi! Im new to cameras but with the focus ring, you just have to match two things you see inside the camera? Does the camera not zoom in and out?

When I pull the lever to pass the film, the shutter opens and only closes when I take the photo. The shutter remains open for the entire time between the moment I pull the camera lever and take the picture. Do you know how I solve this issue?
