The history of Ken block is he started his professional career as a pro snowboarder, then he was the creater and founder of one of the best skateboarding and snowboarding shoes and apparel company know as DC shoes. Then he decided to become a pro rally car racer and was one of the most successful rally racers of all time. In the process of all this, he decided to create a company called hoonigan racing and started the gymkhana video series. Witch is what you are watching. He tragically passed away from a snowmobile accident riding in the backcountry of Utah when he ended up falling and his snowmobile landed on him witch pinned him under the snow, where he passed away from suffercation . He is and always will be a legend in motorsports history. Now his daughter is walking in his footsteps to help keep his legacy alive. RIP "forever Ken block"

This is Pike's Peak here in Colorado. The Hill climb is a famous race where drivers go from the bottom to the top as fast as possible. Standard speed limit, it takes like 25 minutes to do the 19 mile, 7,400 foot incline drive. They force you to stop halfway to temp your brakes. If they're too hot (potentially fail) you have to pull over. My brakes are always ambient because of engine braking in a manual transmission vehicle. Brought my cousin up in early Julya few years ago and got 6 inches of snow from the warm, sunny and dry bottom to the blizzardy top.

@BornRandy62 Pike Peak was paved because of claims of environmentl and wildlife issues because of the gravel. I remember visiting my parents in Colorado Springs in the early 2000's and the project to start paving Pikes Peak had just started, and I think it took about a decade to complete.

The stunts also get ramped up from one to the next. He often features his friends from different companies like Black Riffle Coffee Company, Travis Pastrana and his (Travis's) Nitro Circus crew. In one of the videos Cleetus McFarland was also featured. Travis Pastrana has since taken over the Gymkhana videos. Ken Block was a professional rally driver and co-founder of DC Shoes, he was also a skateboarder, snowboarder and rode motocross. He truly is a legened, I think you would enjoy the journey more start to finish.

A note about 3:25 for those who haven't been to Pike's Peak. That Ranger Station is a checkpoint for vehicles coming down the hill - rangers check your brake rotor temp for safety. If your brakes are too hot, they make you pull off to the side for a bit to cool down. When I was there on a motorcycle trip in 2010, there was a small refreshment stand to get something to eat or drink while you wait. It's a joke that they are checking Ken's brake temp here. Do check out recent videos of his daughter Lia coming up in all styles of motorsports.

In my uneducated opinion, the greatest to have ever driven a car. His feel for every car and under all conditions is unmatched. Just up this road in this video is dramatic changes in the air, causing major changes in the car's performance, and not just in the car but the driver too. It is roughly a 2,256m elevation change from the bottom to the top of the road, ending at an elevation of 4,302m. At that elevation, breathing is labored due to the lack of oxygen, & the temperatures are 10's of degrees colder than at the bottom. RIP

The Pike's Peak Climb is quite famous. The road up the hill is every bit as treacherous as it appears. It is a public road which I have driven more than once (at posted speed limits, which are quite slow). For an average driver, it is quite intimidating. Lots of blind turns, no guardrails, chance encounters with bighorn sheep which live and graze at high elevation, etc. Because the air is so thin (you notice, the vegetation disappears suddenly - that's called the "treeline" at about 3300m/11,000 feet above sea level), the performance of internal combustion engines degrades quickly. And obviously, the thin atmosphere impacts the driver, as well. The stop at the ranger kiosk was a temperature check of the brakes. If any system is critical on Pike's Peak, it is the ability to stop.
