Now, this girl has a distinctive fresh touch, plays with clarity and makes good use of silence, has excellent control of dynamics, and springs lots of delightful surprises and I can't get enough of this whimsical pianist who doesn't smile but I can feel it in her playing. This is a Finals top contender for sure. Prize or no prize, I would go to her concert.

Her playing is so noble, elegant, exquisite, graceful, beautiful, easeful, and powerful too. It's a pleasure to listen and to watch her. She has what it makes a successful professional public performer in a long career. She is a Natural.
This competitor is winning material, especially compared to some of those who made it to the finals. She demonstrated musical maturity that no one else in the competition demonstrated as thoroughly or consistently. I hope she knows that she plays and played far better than any of the jurors ever played. Competitions have been heading further and further in this direction for a long time. I can barely bring myself to watch them anymore for this reason. It's become another American Idol. It's not about choosing the one who played the best. Choosing the ones with the "coolest vibes" or the ones who had prodigy status as children, or ones who play with the most pyrotechnics, or their own students, or the one who offends the fewest judges, because the judges have such a narrow view of what is possible in a work of music. A friend cajoled me into watching this one. I won't watch them again. I will follow this pianist, though. As for the extremely forgettable members of the jury, most of whom no one ever heard of before, let them fade into obscurity. Argerich was right to walk off the jury. I wouldn't want to be associated with it either.

After hearing her perform the Sonata I would pick her for the finals. Wow that Largo destroyed me! I’m sad and puzzled that she was not selected. But with the musical integrity she displays I imagine she will have many other opportunities. I hope so and wish her the best.

Mrs Furumi has been unlucky representing Japan. The dear Committee would not have voted for 3 Japanese pianists while excluding someone from the US. She should have chosen another country to live and identify with. That said, such committees rarely care about the Largo. They vote for flashy novices who seem that they'll make a great career. They would disqualify even Paderewski for some Olympic typewriting champion who makes a fuzz...

Splendid pianistic art. The air like lightness of the Rondo and all the emotions of the sonata op.58 make it a memorable recital. Beautiful Chopin music without excessive make up. Bravo!

Every time Ms. Furumi creates a light, danceable rhythm in the Rondo, she dances along with it while creating it, which is a pretty good way to make sure it's even and danceable.

I don't have a benchmark memory 'cause Yasuko's performance is my first listening experience of Rondo E major. Then Volla! I feel like I am seeing Nodame in person. Full of romantic dynamics dancing flawless. You betchya Chopin Competetion explored a hidden gem again. Kanbare Ms. Furumi! Bravo!

Thank you so much for the super spectacular performance 😱😭 of all pieces . And SONATA Op.58 is one of the GOAT😱 All movements were great👏👏👏 Especially your passion for the 4th movement may have lined up or exceeded BLECHACZ’s legendary performance in 2005 competition👏👍 I strongly wish you good luck✨ Few oops…⁉️ yes we are human😉

@@zsuzsaperl9602 It's a nice and correct reaction.😆👍 Others have also written a lot of great comments. I agree with all of them 😆 ⇩These were particularly impressed. ○ Without excessive make up ○ I rarely listen sonata Op.58 like this ○ Persuasive expression like a legendary performer ○ Reliable technics that does not neglect details ○ Music and performance are well intertwined I think it's a miracle performance that happened because it was a one-shot biggest competition. Not too annoying, not too kind, not too heavy, not too light, not too hard , not too soft , and a exquisitely balance of beauty and passion. I've listened to a lot of recordings of sonata Op58 , both famous and unknown, for me , she was the first to play the 3rd and 4th movements at the same time so wonderfully. Of course, both the 1st and 2nd movements are one of GOAT. Her performance of 3rd , this is the my best of 2021 Chopin competition 😅 I would like to go to her concert and express my gratitude .😌

In my view, she did well, but she need more passion to music.Maybe her tone shows japanese culture, too cold and the beauty and spirit are hiden.I think that her Chopin can play better and flawless, but she need time and experience to taste her life and read more, then she can understand more deep.
