I believe - way back, ATC’s were an Artists way to show of their skills by giving away a sample piece of their work- like todays advertising! Makes sense to me and love the idea that even today they are still a small piece of a persons art that are freely given or recieved. Long may they be swapped!!!

That’s always been my understanding of ATC history. I think it was back in the 70’s, they were used by artists, (young, new, and students levels) as a business card and a reference to their art style. They would hand them out to galleries and trade with other artists. They were never intended to be sold. ATC exchanges are really fun to join!

The Gloo tube. How clever and obvious to have a square glue stick - much easier to get into square corners eh ? Just discovered your site and loving it. I have a cryptogram app on my phone. I solve only quotes and save the ones I live to a folder in notes. Love quotes too!!!

I make things that resemble ATCs but.... I don't over fuss on the size and l freely give them away to friends, family, and stray acquaintances. None of those people consider themselves artists and they don't create similar items we could trade. But i do get a lot from them in return... Just not art! :-)
