That looked like fun. I do a similar thing with watercolors. I never thought of using sumi ink. I'm going to have to dig in my closet to find mine. A suggestion, if I may. I switched from marbles to stainless steel ball bearings. Sometimes slivers of the marble would come off when I used multiple marbles. I got a glass sliver in my finger and it took me a while to figure out what happened. Now I'm off to check out your KZbin channel. Thanks for the video! (My cat likes to "help" as well. lol)

So, how much high flow medium do you add to make it waterproof? 50/50? Also when using the regular GAC 100 Golden Stuff, how much of that do you use? And when using this one do you add water at all? Thanks for any answers I get, really appreciate them. Wonderful & fun video, glad KZbin showed me your art/video, I've subscribed. 😁👍🏼👍🏼😁‼️ (Also, I saw your stuff on another channel advertising it. Cool Beans 😁👍🏼👍🏼😁🫘🫛🫘‼️)

To make the sumi ink waterproof, I suggest adding only the high-flow medium and no extra water. High flow is thin like water so I would add a few drops and test for water resistance after the "swatch" dries. Hope this helps! 😊

I don’t understand the purpose of the additives. Do they make the paint water soluble? If you just use ink, does it spread with water? Please explain both additives. Thank you.
@Harkart59Ай бұрын
The additive makes the ink permanent so you can make the lines and watercolor over them with transparent watercolors without the risk of the ink lines bleeding. That's it.
@YasutomoArtOrigamiАй бұрын
@harkart59 explained it perfectly 😊 and yes you are correct, if you just use the ink only (no additives) the ink will bleed when re-wet. That may be the look you're going for - but if not, the additives will make the ink permanent so you can go over them with watercolors without muddying them. Karen has both GAC 100 and GAC 200 additives in this video; for this project they will yield similar results when mixed with our ink. This link will give you a more detailed description of the properties of the different additives: goldenartistcolors.com/resources/golden-acrylic-specialty-polymers Hope this helps!

Absolutely, India ink will also work for this technique 😊 The good news is that our liquid black sumi ink (using item number KF2 here) is vegan - instead of animal glue, it uses PVA. Our sumi ink sticks, on the other hand, do still contain animal glue as they are made in the traditional Japanese method. Hope this helps and happy creating!
