Nice reaction. This is BABYMETAL blending Ska with the Metal ... and just doing it right at their first try. These were the most recent masks to be worn by the Kami Band. Their previous masks were a bit more plain on the whole, these newer ones look more menacing I think. The Kami Band in this song, performing one of their instrumental intros, were Chris Kelly and CJ Masciatonio on guitars, Clint Tustin on bass and Anthony Barone on drums. In 2017 at the Big Fox Festival the Kami Band of the East (as I recall it was Mikio Fujioka (RIP), Takayoshi Ohmura, BOH and Hideki Aoyama) performed their own intro for 'Yava'.

Great reaction! This is an old classic that we haven’t heard live in years! So happy they brought this back. Yes, Kami Band recently updated their masks to the newer and cooler version. From stage left to right: Chris Kelly (pink guitar), Clint Tustin (bass), Anthony Barone (drums), and CJ Masciantonio (tiger stripe guitar). These 4 have backed Babymetal as Kami West since 2019. Yava! = “Oh no!” The song’s overall meaning is along the lines of: “This is different, that is different, Oh No! What should I do?!” Many thinks it’s a fun jab at the early Babymetal critics who didn’t accept them because they are “different”. 🤣 🤘🦊

yeah i think its a jab at the critics too, another is Awadama fever which is really fun, called bubblegum metal so they did a song about...bubblegum!

Yava is a brilliant dig at Babymetal detractors. My interpretation is the song is sung from the perspective of a Metalhead that is loosing their mind hearing Babymetal for the first time and not being able to come to terms with their thoughts, they think Babymetal shouldn't be called metal because they don't follow the norm of what metal should be but are confused because as a purist they feel it would be wrong for them to like what they hear, Babymetal has got into their head and it's making them crazy. "Any of them are alike. Everybody says so, but they are in some way a little different, aren't they? A little different, I wonder so after all." "Different. Different. That's not acceptable. Different. Different. You say so, but... Different. Different. I don't know. Eh? They are in some way a little different?" "I can't stop caring about it. What should I do? I can't stop caring about it. What should I do? Which side is that on? Which side is this on? Paarira paarira fuu!"

Like most BM songs, Andrew Hartely's You Tube channel delves into the meaning of Yava. My take-away is it's about resisting peer pressure to conform to the group's concensus. P.S. I perfer the earlier versions of this song and Awadama Fever. The Eastern Kami Band's intos are more unique I.M.O. and although I luv MoMo to death, Yui is just so damn cute in these charming songs.

_"Pippo pappo pippo pappo piii"_ 🦊🤘🔥 Welcome back to the Foxhole. This is a song from Metal Resistance 2016 album and era when YuiMetal was still part of the group. YAVA! (actually Yabai!, It's a contraction) means like "oh no!" or when describing something dangerous or surprising, that's the facial expression you can see on the girls. They're fusing ska genre and metal in a way no one did before, the cuteness and charming of these girls are unmatchable. The Kami Band intro in this one is super fun, unfortunately they cut it off from the official live clip, cool you found this version. Until 2017 the East Kami Band played the intro, they played the song a few more times but without the intro, now this is the first time West Kami Band is playing it along with the intro. Also after YuiMetal left the group, the avengers system were the backing dancers but only Riho Sayashi and Kano Fujihira were the ones selected to perform this song, and last March at Legend MM celebrating MomoMetal's 21 birthday in Yokohama Arena it was Momo-chan first time performing YAVA! "Chigau" in the lyrics is the temporary title fans gave to this song when they did the live premiere without knowing the song, the word means "different" and totally fits with the meaning of the lyrics, this could be a song talking about them, you know, the surprise factor of being different. You can enjoy the Kami Band intro version as well the original trio performing with the live at Fox Festival 2017. Next suggestion to have some more fun and with another Kami Band intro: - Awadama Fever with Kami Band intro live at Fox Festival 2017. Next week is coming a new collab song along with Tak Matsumoto new group, he already got another collab with them in the song DA DA DANCE from Metal Galaxy album, this time BM are the special guests. They already finished the Asian Tour and in October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru and Chile with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it. 👍 👍 The East and West Kami Band are ALWAYS the LIVE bands backing BABYMETAL. This was the West Kami (began touring with BABYMETAL in 2019)featuring musicians from the USA and since early 2023 have been doing the bulk of the world tours for them. The East Kami Band features musicians from Japan and started performing LIVE with BABYMETAL in 2012.

Great reaction, thanks! I'm awfully late this time, sorry. 😅 "YAVA!", actually "ヤバッ!" (Yaba!) comes from "yabai" (dangerous) but here is used more like the excalamtion "Oh, no!". They say 43 times "chigau" (different). So although the meaning of the lyrics is kinda obscure, it seems to be about something that it's "different" and also not acceptable ("Te nai yo"). And a theory is that they are referring to themselves. If you want to learn from the lyrics, translations and language and cultural nores, check out Du-metal's blog. He has everything from the first two albums). By the way, this was an incredible live performance and I can't believe we got "YAVA!" (which is rare: it was the first "YAVA!" performance for Momometal) and with the intro (which is even more rare since it was only performed at the four Big Fox Festival concerts in 2017) at legend-MM. 😊 🤘🦊

Nice, reaction, I love Yava. Some other songs that have Kami intros are Kagerou, and Metali!, both from the same Legend MM 2024 concerts. Though I also recommend Doki Doki Morning, also from Legend MM 2024.

Agreed, it's a great song, and this version is super cool as it's the outro to Legend MM, Momo's birthday celebration. It is so cute and adorable at the end, I can't help but grin.
