Whereas the 1980s had that as well as HipHop, House, and Techno battling it out as well. Plus the 1980s UK British music invasion was even bigger than the first one (in THE 1960s) with more groups obtaining success through it.

I adore this💗 Alison Moyet is magic✨ I saw the vid on MTV when I was tiny and was obsessed-one day when I grow up I was gonna get that album(yes vinyl lol)… so I would run into the room whenever it came on, wanting to write down the name so I wouldn’t forget who made this awesome song….And I finally got to scrawl it onto a paper w a crayon…Nobody would take me to buy the album bc the vid was ‘too scary for kids’(indeed it scared me, yet I was obsessed lol). I finally got the cassette…and eventually all Alison’s other albums. 💗💐✨

Heard it for the first time on 91X - was on my way to school in San Diego in 1982. Like if you're old enough to have heard the original!

One of the best synth pop songs of the 80s: A synth tune which has burned in to my mind forever, the great voice of Alison Moyet without any autotune and drums with an explosive punch whithout the f***ing audio compression of today. Just in the Video, the piano keys in the beginning are playing nonsense: Jumping between D minor and E minor while the actual pitch of the synth tune is about one quarter note lower than B minor.
