I met a guy at at Budd's Creek with a 1970 Challenger. I was walking up to his car when I noticed the big ass Chevy big block valve covers. I started to walk away when he walked up to me and said high. We started talking and I asked why he put a big block Chevy in a MOPAR. He said he was a Chevy guy and wanted something different. OK. I started with MOPAR so yeah, I felt a certain kinda way. We had a nice conversation, and I complimented him on his nice looking Challenger. Fast forward years later, I bought a '00 Camaro SS, LS1. All my coworkers were LS1 guys. I told them as good as the LS1 is, it is no where close to what a Coyote 4 valve, little 302, is capable of. You would think I kicked The Pope's mother in the crotch. "How can you say that!!, Oh my God, blah, blah, blah". I told them the little Coyote shouldn't punch 20 feet over its weight class. Fast forward, last year I bought a '21 Mach 1 10R80, and I'm selling my '00 Camaro SS, 4L80E, Ford 9" car I've had since 2001. I'm gonna ESS supercharge in a couple of years. I can make way more HP in this Coyote without going in the engine, no stroking, no nothing than I could with a built LS3 405 that I was going to make before ATCO closed. At the end of the day, it's your car, your money, you can do whatever you want to it. The Coyote is a great engine!!!!!!!! So glad I decided to move up.

Ex Gen 1 owner with mt82 heads/cam/ gen 3 bottom end 3.90 car. Now I have a 13’ gt500 & I love it however the coyote engine is the better engine for sure. I miss reving to 8k+ rpm, and the fact the stock gt500 can only handle 850wheel before it throws a rod 😅 I’m a Shelby owner but coyote for sure lol 😂 excited to see the coyote swapped gt500 make some passes! I don't like it because it turns it into a basic gt that's everywhere. Those engines are super common everybody has a coyote. If you wanna mod a gen 2 coyote just get another gen 2 coyote car? Plenty out there that's for sure which is the point. The gt500 has a special engine that isn't a coyote. Idk man I just don't like coyote swap gt500s. They have a diff engine and trans and that's what makes them special imo. Coyotes have big rpm and compression so obviously going Max effort on e is gonna work really well. The vct also allows the cams to be more aggressive and oem can be dialed in good. I totally understand the coyote and the newer coyotes advantages. Still don't belong in an s197 gt500. Everyone has an opinion though.

The reason you need cams is because it dont have vct. The coyote just got alot of tech thrown behind it because ford went away from the old mod motor after 2014. The coyote has been developed for the last 10 years of course its gonna do more with more tech. A built shelby motor can make way over 1000 wheel with ease man you just got a shit builder and had issues. What makes it superior because it revs more? It has to rev more to make the same power because it has LESS DISPLACEMENT. The coyote is based off the old 4v ford went away from the old mod motor after 2014. They wanted to move everything over to coyote based stuff. If they put all the tech behind the old mod motor they could have done the same fucking thing. I am a "shelby guy" but not a retarded one that dont know shit about these engines. Ive seen old 5.4 pushed over 1000 wheel on a stock bottom end with turbos back in like 2007 it went 8s at the drag strip. Yes it had cams of course they dont have vct. It seems like it was lethal but i could be wrong on that dont quote me. Them old shelby motors are pretty capable for something that started in 2007. The 5.4 was a good engine that dates back to 2007 in the gt500. Theyre comparing it against gen 2 and up coyotes that started in 2015 and has WAY more tech. As for your comparison on trinity with 12 psi vs coyote w 12 psi dude the trinity has 9:1 compression stock against 11:1 the 5.4 condor was even lower at 8.4:1. Of course the coyote makes more at the same boost smh. I dont think the old mod motors are "superior" to the coyote matter of fact i know its not. But i also dont think the coyote blows it away like youre acting. Stock bottom end against stock bottom end OR built vs built. The old mod motors arent the trash youre making them out to be. You seem to compare everything based off whats been faster and stuff. Do you realize how many more coyotes are out there compared to older 4v which were only in cobras and gt500s and other low production mustangs. It has way more compression and tech shoved into it its WAY more modern. Clearly its better than a 4v from the 90s stock vs stock. If you add displacement to the old 4v give it cams and the same compression it comes alot closer to it than the fanboys wanna admit. They wanna compare stock vs stock when its like 20 years apart lol. Guys went crazy fast with the old 4v. Its not about whats "better" its about what belongs in the car. Theres 100s of thousands of gt out there you can mod just sell the gt500 and mod one of those. I dont get it.

You know why the gt500 needs cams? Because it dont got vct. You know why it cant go much above 850? Because at that power level its gonna have the same tq a coyote does when its at 1000. Put the coyote at 1000 tq and see how long it lasts lol. They make 1000 wheel and like 700 tq lol. Thats why they stay alive. That and e85 or some other badass fuel which is the only way youre making 1000 on a stock coyote. The older engines require more mods to do similar things because they dont have the tech. They dont have tivct thats why you need cams the shelby had super mild stock cams. They make way more tq than coyotes thats what bend rods. Coyote dont make tq so they live at higher power levels.

It has more power but less torque vs the 5.8 stock. They Rev good and make good power the coyote has all kinds of tech shoved into it that the older mod motors never got. If the trinity had got that tech it could be just as potent. I prefer the 5.4 condor myself it is alot more affordable the trinity costs alot of extra money for not much benefit. The thing is the coyote stuff has alot more tech, alot more rpm and compression. Give the older Shelby cams and 11 and 12:1 compression on e85 they can make way over 1000 to the ground with a tvs without even trying. The coyote just has higher rpm and compression stock. So if you're trying to push a stock motor on e the coyote is prob the "better" engine but it isn't always about what's better. I just don't understand why you run a coyote in a gt500. I just don't get it. It can't be that much fucking lighter than an all aluminum 5.8. Most of those idiots don't even understand the differences between the coyote and the condor/trinity. I'm very much aware of the difference. I don't think he's gonna go 8s with 1000 wheel with a manual but we will see. The coyote is cheaper because its way more accessible and available. The condor and trinity stuff was in far more limited cars so its gonna COST MORE. It's not about what's "better" a coyote just don't belong in an s197 gt500. It just doesn't. Plenty of regular ass gt to mod out there if that's what you wanna do.

My unvle bought an L88 Nickey Chev Camaro in 1968.. drag raced it for 2 years, took out the motor and installed a 454 as to not ever hurt that L88 engine.. he passed too early to see it sell for o er $800,000 bucks.. ut was one of 10 nickey chevrolet ss-rs 396-4spd cars converted to 427 solid roller aluminum head race motors.. Nickey was same as Yenko, Baldwin..
