...into the wood 7. Huckslakehome
11/10/23. 8pm. Praha. Boat Hotel.
“Bang!” The waiter just placed heavily the Red Beer on my table. The loud and abruptly noice can be heard throughout the whole restaurant. He smiled and walked away.
Before I getting myself back from the rude shocked, saw the next table lady screaming with the bang too! Amazingly the beer didn’t spill out on the table. (except the second beer I asked for my video, no longer naturally...Oops!) No one felt offended but replied with a big laughter.
When I walked passed this 1375 old pub, the whole pub has no light, only candles, the ancient type of white candle that was. Thick rustic wooden table, dark and artistic painted wall with stuffed wild animal, so dark you almost can not see the floor at some point. A spiral stair down to another floor underground. Think it was not open for guests. Waitress ladies wore the old fashioned country folk dress...
Wow! I’m back to 1375 tavern literally! People were talking loudly with words and call you name farmer or robber that you should not mind, because that was the medieval time that how people talked and behaved. You should not mind how waiter served your beer rudely, they did it with the intention to enhance the jovial atmosphere.
Waiter served me a bowl of water with a slice of Lemon. “Don’t drink, for you to wash hand.” Thought that was thoughtful. Before I knew it, my Grilled Smoked Ribs landing on my table loudly. Oh,My! That was huge! “ You didn’t give me fork and knife ..” “ Told you using hand! “ He did say it with his cheeky smile. But later still give me the cutlery and many tissues...but of course, I will followed the tradition.
The restaurant was full during lunch, laughters and joyful mood filled the entire tavern. I came back at 3pm as it was no table earlier, before they closed at 4pm. Many were turned down disappointingly. I enjoyed in this restaurant a lot, it was not they created a new concept to attract customers, it was the restaurant never change with the times since 1375. King Wenceslas IV, Rudolf’s alchemists, even Mozart, Jaroslav Hasek all used to drink and got drunk here. I treasured every minute of the medieval feeling here. So lucky that I found it accidentally while I was looking souvenirs towards Praha Castle even it was not my dinner time yet. I wasn’t hungry, but I ate all it except left one piece to take away. It was too huge for my cat stomach. It was Damn Good! Their Czech homemade beer was fine and smooth. I was getting worried myself if I will get addicted as I drunk 2 Beer a day. It has been 3 weeks. Well, I’m not a drinker back home. When you come to Europe, naturally you drink.
How I wish I owned this pub restaurant. I would want my guests to dress like LOTR to come for dinner. No one would get offended if you found your Mushroom Soup tasted smoky because it is using the big metal round pot with wood fire. Lol! xx huck
