Looking back to when I was retired for 3.5 years, everyday was just like Christmas. Now that I'm back working, I know I took it for granted. I was retired just long enough to get accustom to the lazy days with no stress, timetable or structured mind set. Those days are gone for a while but they'll be back in a few years and I'll never take it for granted again. Merry Christmas!

@@deec.3904 Roth conversions have lots of rules and things to be aware of! It counts as income when you do a Roth conversion. There's lots of good articles about them online, like this one. I'm happy to report that I drastically over-estimated spending in retirement. I don't get access to early social security for 2 more years but it will cover most of my expenses at that time. I may have to learn to be a bit more spendy in retirement. Merry Christmas one and all!

Thank you. I have got to get a big contribution into our employee side of our Solo 401K. I’ve been trying since Vanguard moved it to Ascensus, it’s been a learning curve. I wasn’t sure about the new super catch up contributions so thank you for that info. This will help my husband greatly. This is our last year of work! Woo Hoo. Goal is to retire June 30th of this year. Big push and big changes ahead. It feels like senior year! ❤ Every time I see one of your videos I get excited, it’s like I’m spending time with a friend . 😊Julie thanks for the holiday content Breakfast caserole Yummy! Holidays are way better when you're retired! I hated the holidays during my working years I do not like to give out of obligation but from the heart! Giving should be genuine! Planning for time off can be challenging I never grew up with Christmas Do not come from a tight knit family BUT we stay in touch I never get lonely or sad around the holidays Since I do not spend on gifts I save and bugdet for other things to avoid debt Year end holidays for me are a time of gratitude and reflection! Ready and prepared for the New year!

I put up the tree the 1st week in Dec. a real tree that I got for a bargain. After Christmas I use it in my outdoor fire pit. To keep me from rushing I buy and have pretty much everything done by the second week in Dec. Christmas dinner is simple. New Year is for readjusting my portfolio. Merry Christmas too you and yours.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays. This has been a really informative channel for me this year. Still 5-6 years out but in the planning phase and seeing a couple of channels not defaulting to $1m+ is refreshing. I have a small defined benefits pension for baseline income so hoping that lets me (1) not need such a large pot saved up to top that up, and (2) it can act partially as ‘cash’ or ‘cash like’ income which might help me stay with a higher proportion in equities.

I just found out something today. Super catch up contributions for those age 60 to 63 are not automatic! When I learned of them a couple weeks ago, I adjusted my withholding for next year to ensure my contributions would take advantage of this, and then I read an article today stating individual employer plans weren’t required to offer this. It’s optional, so I called my plan found my employer isn’t offering this. I was told it may in the future, but right now it isn’t. So bummed.

I’m waiting until I do my taxes to see exactly how much I can contribute to my Roth IRA. My AGI will be less than the Max contribution, so I will have a limit of my AGI. (I think I understand that correctly). I should mention that this is one of the downsides to receiving after tax alimony. Since it doesn’t count as income for me, I cannot contribute as much as I’d like into my Roth IRA account.
