@@TheOmahaIntrovert -- If you don't already have it, I'd definitely pick up the 'Repo Man' soundtrack. Looks like vinyl copies are spendy, but you can get it on CD for reasonable $. Even if you have all of the available JH soundtracks, there's still plenty in this set to like. I'll be grabbing a copy down the road.

If you like X check out The Flesh Eaters. They were kind of a punk supergroup that had members of X, The Plugz, Los Lobos, The Blasters and Stan Ridgway of Wall of Voodoo. Their sound reminds me a lot of Richard Hell and the Voidoids. X later went on to feature one of their tunes Cyrano de Berger's back on their album See How We Are, since John Doe was the writer of that tune. The singer of the Flesh Eaters then went on to form The Divine Horsemen which is another good band. Another band to check out if you like Kate Bush is Slow Children. They were a band that grew on me, and have that kind of quirky tempo songs that don't immediately stick with you as being good, but the more you listen to them, the more you can't stop listening to them.

I noticed the Ringo Deathstarr album on the shelf in this video. Another shoegaze band out of Austin called Blushing put out an excellent album this year called "Possessions". They straddle that line between shoegaze/dream pop, and they would have fit in perfectly with the 4AD label in the 90s. Definitely worth a listen if it wasn't on your radar earlier this year.

The Gits are definitely worth it. They were part of the local scene here in Seattle in the early 90's. Such a tragic story when Mia Zapata was murdered. At least they were able to convict her killer 9 years later using DNA evidence. He died in prison last year.

Hello 👱♀Hanna; Good to see your top ten vinyl finds. LP pick ups you enjoy is what counts. Music encapsulates a period which we chose to collect. Being a fan of a particular musical period is fine. I doubt there's anything I could mention that you don't already have or already know about. But for newer stuff there is Automatic (post synth?). One of the members is the daughter of the Bauhaus drummer I believe. Along with Kate and Siouxsie, as far as women from that time do you have anything from Lena Lovich or Nina Hagen? And since you mentioned The Craft, Fairuza Balk releases music under the name Armed Love Militia and it just sounds what you might expect from her. Cheers 🥂

Hey there! Automatic are great. I believe I found out about them from a fellow Instagram vinyl community member. I have sampled their new album! And to answer your question, so far I just have a 12" single from Lene Lovich. New Toy I think it is. I have nothing by Nina Hagen yet but hope to change that in the future. Oh wow, I had no idea Fairuza Balk makes music. I'll check her out under that band name! Thank you!

Thanks for the recap! Waterboys This is the Sea, love that album. Great find. Really enjoy Kate Bush as well, Never for Ever is one of my favorites. If you are digging her music have you checked out Joanna Newsom? When I think of the punk of The Gits I'm reminded of 1990's band Babes in Toyland. They were local to me in the 1990's and have a similar punk vibe.

Hey Hanna, i love your integrity, how honest you are in regard to records and artists. Loved this review thanks. I thought id mention an artist from a special part of the country here in NZ who you know, having featured in your reviews. He sadly just passed away when found missing for 10 days. Hamish Kilgour, founding member of The Clean in 1978, a key component of label Flying Nun and the "Dunedin Sound" that is a deep southern city in NZ. Theres a record store in Copenhagen that has a Dunedin Sound section next to their Seattle Sound section. Over 4 decades he played in more than 100 bands and The Clean were cited as influential to many bands with Sonic Youth and Pavement among them. Ive been reminiscing on videos of Tally Ho and Anything Could Happen and more. Thankyou Hanna, for spotlighting the Dunedin scene/sound with The Chills, The Bats, The Clean and more Flying Nun bands, i really love your room, its beautiful.

With mostly good and some bad purchases. It took a lot from my bank account and space. My wife is not happy about it 😅Nevertheless I collected a great bunch of post-punk and punk/underground records on top of what I already collected in the past. To many titles to list, but with overlap in your finds. Now it’s time to listen in-depth, the holiday season perhaps providing some time. Currently listening to the Comsat Angels debut. One thing about Kate Bush is because she is so artistic to really appreciate her she needs to be seen actually performing or at least in her videos. I am with you on the Ramones boxset. I never realized I would enjoy their 80's albums as much as I did. Happy Holidays and see you next year.

Hey Matt! Agreed that nothing beats digging in the wild! They really do need to reissue the Gits' studio LPs on vinyl again. I have the 2007 (?) vinyl reissue of Frenching the Bully. Just looked and that one is worth something now, too. I need to spend more time with Kate's Sensual World. Thumbs up that you also love that Ramones box set. Their 80s music really impressed me! Happy holidays!

I would find many records in thrift stores out here in southern cali, I am picky though records got to be in best of shape with the sleeves in great condition along with no scratches on the records themselves, I still have all my LP's & 45's cassettes with a mix of all kinds of music even some punk pop country disco easy listening they all look mint along with the covers.

Forgot to mention to you last time I found a buzz of delight still sealed at lo yo yo stuff record store for $20. It’s one of those “find another one”. I thought you might dig it since it’s real early Matthew sweet. When you mentioned green pajamas it made me think of 54-40 also from Canada. When hootie covered their song I bet they were happy. That whole LP is good. The group game theory I believe you have mentioned before. Great stuff. That Komodo my house in the background made me think of this live recording I have of them from that album. Sounds like early guided by voices. Rocking lo-fi but from early 70’s. If you look up buzz of delight there is a live recording with Pete buck and also on stage the brunette woman ( from a band called holiday) is who paul westerberg wrote left of the dial about. She was a DJ at WUOG 90.5. Great video once again. You can look up that store and they will send you the record.

Hey Bo! I'm unfamiliar with Buzz of Delight. 54-40 are excellent and I have one of their LPs! And yes, I've covered Game Theory in my power pop series, I believe. Happy holidays, my friend!

You had a great 2022 in vinyl! The HMs are solid. Talking with the Taxman, Raw Power, Sparks, Undertones, and more! Did you happen to note that Siouxsie is scheduled to play a live show in the UK in 2023? Probably no chance of US dates but we can hope. (Ok, I just see that someone mentioned that below). And yes on a Siouxsie ranking. The song Cool for Cats was the first song that I remember being obsessed with whenever it would appear on the radio. Great album. Great video!

Hey again, Richard! Yes, I did hear that Siouxsie announcement for 2023. I'd at least love to see the footage of it after the fact! I really love how my collection filled out in 2022!

You should get King’s X new record “Three Sides of One”. They’ve been my favorite band since 1988 and it’s their first record in over 13 years. They’ve been a band since 1980 and achieved success with their first record in 1987 and continued recording and touring since then.

Hanna you've been killing it all year!👍 Yes Siouxsie and the Banshees deserve a show of appreciation - they've been buzzing all year in the right places - In my opinion they NEVER released a bad LP - Love Kate Bush - avoid the 1st LP those are songs she wrote at age 15 very prissy - LIONHEART the 2nd LP is my favorite alongside NEVER FOREVER and HOUNDS OF LOVE - want to check The Marine Girls - they sound punky - I love CDs too - if you can't find it on LP the used CD Bin might have surprises! - Jah Wobble's Bass on that 1st PIL LP will demolish old houses - Japanese pressing - boy they love our stuff! Love Squeeze - my fav is "East Side Story" I believe Elvis Costello produced that LP - Thank you Hanna that was a great video!❤💿🎄

Greetings, Lou! So glad to read that you enjoyed this video, my friend! I'm 100% in agreement that Siouxsie didn't release a bad LP! Lionheart is a good one from Kate Bush. I scored a French pressing of that one in Missouri this year! Haha, love your description of Jan Wobble's bass on First Issue! Absolutely! Hehe! Yeah, East Side Story is a fantastic Squeeze record and one I return back to frequently, too! Happy Holidays!

Well done for getting out in the wild and finding stuff, Hanna. There are few record shops now left in London and they're prohibitively expensive. I buy from charity shops and occasional online purchases. I like your idea of a top 10 Siouxsie & The Banshees video but defy you not to put 'The Scream' at No.1! PS: I liked the snap of you and Dereck Higgins which he showed on his channel.
@TheOmahaIntrovert2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bruce! It was my fault for totally spacing off including the picture of Dereck and I from last week! That was pretty special to meet him at Grapefruit Records! Hey, what's wrong with The Scream by Siouxsie & the Banshees? Hehe, it's not my #1, but not at the bottom, either! Records are ridiculously expensive and I'm pretty selective with what I purchase. Thank God I don't like ALL music, or I'd really be in trouble! Take care!

You did well with the Th' Faith Healers - Lido. One for sale on Discogs £120! Had no idea about Mia, absolutely awful. That poor girl.

Any Japanese press for under $30 is a sweet deal, depending on condition. Considering that that's the shipping cost alone for something on EBay from Japan.

Hey there, Conrad! Thanks for hanging out here! Yeah, quite frankly, I'm amazed by the prices of these 2 Japanese pressings I scored this year! Killer deals. Certainly makes me happy! Have a great week!
