What Insect need is an answer to Spell-Traps tbh. They can handle Monsters really well (Beetrooper has a Counter Trap, Raika Stag is a double Pop, Perfectly Ultimate is Battle Phase Raigeki alongside Field Spell, and Scary Moth is Winda at home) but it all folds hard to Spells and traps.

The restrictions aren't equally spread tho, like look at snake-eyes, tear, fiendsmith. Decks that need restrictions don't have them, and those that don't, have them (except maybe branded?)

@@hurrdurrmurrgurr thankfully that's why casual formats like Heart of the Underdog and alt formats especially Edison exist, so you can actually have fun playing yugioh instead of playing against tier 1/tier 0 decks that only appeal to the top 1% of the meta-chasing tournament scene. Yugioh is going the way of Magic when the Pro Tour was a thing and that was what the company focused on. There's a reason a casual format like Commander took over and standard and modern became completely dead formats over there and they had to basically create a brand new format in Pioneer with its own banlist to try and get people to use newer cards again. Yugioh is going to go the exact same way.

For the Memento monster it's actually really good for the strategy. The main thing is to send it off of King and revive at some point and then use Fusion's in grave effect to kill it to grab something like bone party then using Aki's effect to add that bone party back to hand. Taking away any downside of banishing your own cards. Worst case scenario, this card saves another Meme from banishment/it gets banished some how It's a instant one of as you really do not want to see this guy in hand but man he is great for the bone enjoyers

Ugh insects are so close but I took a look at Rafflesia and its a plant so unless I'm missing some miracle mix between plants and insects we are stuck under a insect restriction. They have Raika so knowing how underwhelming Raika is why didn't they say insect and plant. Rafflesia + Gravediggers Trap Hole would have fixed the Nibiru issue.

If you can find the space I think all of this shyt can synergize well with the old gishki cards to get a few neremanas as a free extender + monster negate and it really doesn't take too many gishki cards as they all search themselves so if you are using Merlantean pile and want to just shyt out a ludicrous amount of negates you can with zealantis, coelacanth, and gishki abyss being still fair and balance non once per turn search any gishki searcher lol.

You still need to play the rituals and the ritual spells, and one of them locks You into only attack with rituals, and that sometimes is really Bad, i really hope your theory is right bc i love gishki

@@AndresGarcia-hv4ix only grimness locks you into rituals if you use the on summon effect and that is only on attacks which is an interesting lock because you are not stopped from using spright elf yet either. Gishki is a really big package for the pile deck but literally ever card searches its searchers you can even dump tear into the deck because rulkal is water and again you are only locked into waters after activating certain effects so as long as you have the imagination, the space, and the know how water pile has the potential on being one of the most obnoxious options unlimited deck especially considering how genuinely broken zealantis is with a searchable coelacanth.

unfortunately, other than mermail/atlantean cards, the only other 2 cards you summon from spirit atlantean: is citadel whale, and/or coaleth. one is umi, the other is fish gimmick. there's also....... *"brinegir"* but he is.... a brine-dud. can't even ss itself, with it's only effects being to increase attack.

8:13 The restriction is there so Zarc doesn’t become a problem. With the Lightwurm it still is but at least Dinomorphia can’t abuse this effect. With Synchro universe however this becomes kinda like a Princess for Pend decks. So with this decks like D/D/D can definitely take some alternative routes to randomly Calamity lock you.

It was at a time presumably Year of Light following Fire, just from Duelist Pack, only issue was virtually zero themes supported to ring it in properly. Besides Melodious and Trickstars. The main missing pieces: Arcana Force as the lost cover card, Star Seraph, and the AFD deck of retrain for Luna. And the main new deck of Armatos, I would build that in a heartbeat. It’s anything but Year of Light this year.

imagine Konami making a new deck with Beaver Warrior as the main monster. The deck definitely focuses on the tower defense concept with various spells and traps to prevent the opponent from expanding their board. gameplay : activate the spell which can special summon beaver warrior> link summon> search field spell> activate field spell for set 3-4 back row. wait, isn't this Rescue-ACE?

You say that, but how many times have anime and anime inspired cards defined meta games or broken everything? GOYO Guardian, Dark ARMED DRAGON, GALAXY-EYES Dark Matter Dragon, PHANTOM KNIGHTS Rank-UP Magic Quick Launch, Utopic ZEXAL, and that's not going into entire decks like Salamangreat, Pendulum Magician and PePe which were full blown anime nonsense, or boss monsters like Accesscode Talker, the Borreloads and Barrone de Fluer(which is confirmed to be Sherry's secret boss monster that never got to be played) that defined the eras they were a part of. The OCG even has to ban Dragoon because of how overused the thing was over there, and they know full well how pissed off anime fans get when their cards get hit, which is why they like making everything short of the boss monsters(which stay overly generic for brand recognition purposes) difficult to splash when possible.

I hate that the Atlantean art monster is a Mermail always treated as an Atlantean while the Mermail art is an Atlantean always treated as a Mermail. I also hate all of this Level modulation crap when the XYZ just stacks on top of other XYZ monsters, disregarding the need to be created by his actual game mechanic. If there is a bad or dumb way to do something, guaranteed, Konami will always choose that path.

All the odd-eyes, supreme king, and just… general pendulum support has me wondering… Junk speeder came out before master rule revisions. Everyone thought it was gonna be kinda bad until the revision happened. Pendulum witch has a pendulum effect that reads as… well, I like to call it “master rule 3-errific” not to mention the general unplayability of the mechanic as it stands right now, and tons of cards just straight up not working anymore. How basically every pendulum monster lacks the ability to special summon or recurring itself because the pendulum summon is how that was built into the monster. And I was just thinking, theres gonna be future time wizard formats. In 5 years, when duelist alliance is a retro format, and Konami’s official stance is to use the current master rule (master rule 2020) can they honestly just… leave pendulums in the start of their own era with no link monsters? My personal conclusion is that we’re gonna hear a master rule update this December. But- I could also just be high on copium. Probably the latter.

I never once saw Puppet Shark Style as a Gimmick Puppet support. There are some Xyz decks that want to dig for Traps or hand traps. I want to try it in Ghostrick.

You can place a second BFW using the monster effect after activating one from hand, but because the card says, "can only activate 1 card with this card's name per turn" you wouldn't be able to activate the second one if you already activated the first one, right? So it doesn't seem like you could get 4 searches.

My thing is if mixing other cards with the Mermail/Atlantean deck makes it tier 1 it makes it tier 1 and there is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong though is giving a deck that has already existed for years new support and then not even giving it a 50% chance to win against tier 1 decks just with its own cards. I get the idea that not every deck has to be the best deck. But we already have decks like Dark Magician, Toons, and Heros. Why do decks that clearly deserve support get the short end of the stick. I almost have to say that Heros is better than the Mermail/Atlantean deck because they don't minus as hard, have a ok grind game and have some of the most powerful monsters ever to be created in Plasma and Phoenix Enforcer. Even Red-Eyes Bystial would be closer to a top rouge than this. At least Baldrake and Branded Beast can help you do something under Red-Eyes Fusions restrictions with the monsters you aren't using. Fenrir helps Red-Eyes a lot to. But for people to say that Red-Eyes is terrible when Konami messes up the support for decks this bad is a insult.

Ok maybe the support doesn't suck as much as I thought it did. Abyssocea and Bodyguards is a 1 card Gaios(Which gets you to the new Poseidra without minusing to much and Abysshilde, Abyssdine, and Abyssgunde help turn your costs into special summons. you can still use Surfacing Big Jaws and Drake Shark but your not going to have much because all of the bricks you have to run to make it function. They need another Abyssocea that can be special summoned. Maybe they could do the Stratos route and give it a effect to special summon itself and make use of Mermail Abyssdines Populus like effect that works when added from deck or graveyard. They could even make the Stratos like lv. 3 have a ability that can turn it and Abyssdine into lv.7s for Gaios. This would them do what they want to do through 1 hand trap and then Big Jaws can pull the rest of the weight. The genuine problem is for 2 card combos to be good in this modern day Yugioh era the deck has to at least be as good as full power Unchained without any Fiendsmith, Yubel, or Labyrinth cards. I'm talking about Unchained as it was when it was competing to see whether it or Rescue-Ace was the best. If isn't at least that good your deck probably isn't even considered tier 2 and Mermail/Atlantean probably sits at the middle of rogue just above earth machine.

Yeah I know saying that Red-Eyes Bystial and Heros is better than the Mermail/Atlantean deck just as Mermail/Atlanteans own deck is a bit harsh but I will savagely critique Konamis' handling of old archetypes. Making them minus hard because it was Mermail and Atlanteans' thing back in the day isn't a concept that works nowadays and thats when built right Red-Eyes Bystial and Heros are way better. Nowadays even the best rogue decks are the decks that don't run out of cards. They could have made it a little better by making Poseidra say from banished or grave and getting rid of discard cost for the special summons. If they did this then people wouldn't have to care as much about all the cards you have to lose to get there and people like me would feel like they are were they need they are about where they needed to be. They just attached to many discard costs and made no 1 card or 1.5 card combos. It would be a insult if I placed the Mermail/Atlantean deck much more than a little higher than earth machine as the Mermail/Atlantean deck is without adding cards from other archetypes to it.

Something about new Pendulum Cards being announced that was, is and will always be weird to me is the Reaction of certain people. I cannot say how many of the Master Duel Meta commentors are Memeing and how many try to be serious, but some behave like Robbie Kohl, who literally wrote in his title that Ball Balancer is Beyond Powercreeping good. I always ask myself, have these guys ever seen a single Pendulum Combo? While this card is not bad on the surface, historically only those cards that were trying to fix the inherent issue with Pendulums, ended up being barely playable while those that tried to support the already lackluster gameplan ended up completely unplayable. And Ball Balancer is one of the second type of cards, its only alright but only if you are already playing, otherwise it does almost nothing. And thats why its not good.

There are many pendulum endboard pieces in-archetype. But many times they don't solve the pend issue and when they do we know of them as the apollo+protection turbo decks because they forgot restrictions this time

I was actually disappointed in the Mermail/Atlantean support because it seems good but you get rid of so many cards and plus none so it feels like it runs out of gas to quick and can't be compared to anything that's modern. It would be a miracle if they had a grind game even half as decent as Red D. Archfiend does. The only physical way I see them working is by combining them with 1 card combos from other decks. Decks like Sharks that have Buzzsaw and Big Jaws plus Drake Shark for example. I'm not saying that what they got is bad they just wouldn't even make a dent against a deck like Marincess (which by now is already considered one of many top rogue deck.) without help from other decks. Insects were far more blessed with their support than the Mermail/Atlantean strategy was. Abyssrhine looks like it could help a lot water strategies be more potent and play through hand traps better and Icejade Aegirine might be something.
