Her song “Evergreen” was written as a tribute to her mom...video actually sang in her home church in Arkansas. Yet another beautiful song! YEBBA’s vocals are amazing! I think when she says “I sure won’t stay but I’ll be damned if I ever leave...” it makes me think, THATS RIGHT, you will be everywhere in that house, his mind, everything he sees will remind him of you ...therefore you’ll still technically BE there. And also that she is not going to stay but she’s not LEAVING voluntarily, he’s basically making her go. She’s not going of her own free will BUT SHE DAMN SURE WONT STAY!!! It’s empowering but also so heart wrenching. This performance has to be the most emotional connection I’ve ever felt to a song before. Ever!!! It should be the training video for how to connect and deliver your soul to an audience. She literally left her body and went somewhere deeeeep inside her soul and mine!! 🙌🏽

Everyone said this song and her song Evergreen are about her late mother who had committed suicide. Edit: I've been informed (years later) that it happened a week after she sang this. Still, her mother suffered from illness and anyone reading can donate to a fund Yebba started on her FB.

@@Itsunclegabby I obviously have ears, Ma'am. This is what I was told years ago when this first dropped, you'll find that I'm not the only comment to say this. Maybe the song was meant to sound like a romantic relationship so people would listen and relate. But it's about loss. 'No way, No way, She can't take you away from me' can easily be replaced with HE, meaning God, and Yebba looks up at certain times like she's singing for someone above.
