Hi Diane! I just wanted to thank you for your video on baking a half sheet cake. I was struggling with my recipe and almost lost hope after a disastrous first attempt. Your baking time suggestions were perfect, and the cake turned out perfect. The person who ordered was thrilled. Not so many you tubers are doing 18x13x2 size cake. You saved my day! Thank God I ran into your video. God bless you more power!❤❤❤ from California

GOD... is so, so good. So good. HE will surely lead and bless your gifts. Ms. Diane, I too bake heavily for my much loved church sisters and brother's. I like giving them pure ingredients whenever possible. I was actually searching for a chiffon sheet cake and your cake popped up in my search on Google 'images'. I said I must open this video because that cake-- the top of it... how golden it is was and level. Absolutely GORGEOUS for a sheet that size. I am so glad I found this. I've used this mix method before on my 'rounds' and I love the results. The flour 'flour' coats the butter which creates awesome, buttery moisture. Thank you so much and may Our Lord and Savior--Jesus Christ, continue to Bless.... your...hands.

HELLO! MRS.DIANE, I AM A SUBSCRIBER TO YOUR CHANNEL , AND I REALLY ENJOY YOU'RE VIDEO'S, I HABE A QUESTION?I AM GOING TP MAKE A FULL SHEET CAKE USING SUPER MOIST CAKE MIX BOXES FROM STROE , BUT HOME MADE PROFESSIONAL BUTTERCREAM, MY QUESTION IS I HABE ONE 12×18, PAN FROM WILTON, AND I FOUND AND OLD WILTON PAN A FEW INCHES BIGGER , IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A 12X18 ALSO. BUT THE SIZE IS A FEW INCHES BIGGER , SHOULD I BAKE ONE HALF OF SHEEY OF TJE SAME PAN , OR ONE OF OF THE DIFFERENT PAN ?AND IF I PUT THE 2 TOGETHER HOW CAN I PREVENT THE SEAM FROM SHOWING, BECAUSE I HAVE AN EDIABLE SUGAR SHEET TO PUT ON TOP? CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME ADVICE? THANK YOU AND AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY!🐣
@thomasplace7 жыл бұрын
Make sure you put a good amount of icing in the seam where the cakes will join together...I put lots and then push the cakes together as firm as you can allowing some icing to smoosh up and on top of the cake. Then when it's all smoothed out you can't tell. If you can see the seam with your buttercream, you'll see it with your fondant. Also, if you don't use a sturdy enough board underneath the cake when moving it the cake will crack right down the seam!! NOT GOOD!!

Ms. Awesome Diane....! I wanted to give you an update on this recipe I used of yours. I used not only this one but your chocolate half sheet also. Yes, my cake was a whopper of a 4 layer half sheet cake w/ 3 fillings. I split the chocolate and filled it with chocolate butter cream. Between, the layers of chocolate and the vanilla--I used white chocolate buttercream and strawberry buttercream between the split vanilla layers. Iced the whole cake with vanilla SBC that I made in advance. This was for my Pastors birthday. Your recipes for those two (I haven't tried anything else yet) are ... awesome!!! Very, VERY..... nice height on both and no 'doming' on top. But I must tell you that, I was highly excited about this vanilla recipe. There is little to NO shrinkage when it came out of the oven. At cooling-- it was an impressive 2 inches in height. STILL!!! You bake Ms. D--so you know how finicky and disappointing...vanilla/yellow cakes can be. It's almost like they be talking to you saying..."this is all your getting from me so deal with it". This is definitely one for my 'go to baking arsenal'. Very soft, fine and tight crumb even after wrapping and setting overnight. Not dry at all. This is now my 'little black dress' of large vanilla cake recipes. Awesome.

@thomasplace3 жыл бұрын
Just so you added your eggs no worries. But replacing cake flour for all purpose I follow this when converting a cake recipe. .Because of this discrepancy, you’ll want to use a bit more cake flour to make an accurate substitution for all-purpose flour. Add an extra 2 tablespoons per cup of cake flour to equal the quantity in 1 cup of all-purpose flour.

Mine is in the oven now, but as a semi-inexperienced cake baker of any large proportion, my 5 qt mixer would not really tolerate this. I had to keep stopping and scraping up the bottom, a couple of times having to put some of the batter in another bowl to accomplish this. The batter came out with some little chunks not incorporated but hope to put a thick scrumptious frosting on it to cover up those up. ::{{

Diane, have you adapted this recipe for chocolate? Corn starch is a staple in my house for waffles and other baked goods so, I was pleased to see that it was used here. It makes a very nice texture to waffles especially. Anyhow, I was thinking about adding 1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa powder to this recipe. Have you tried this with this exact recipe? If so, any recommendations? Thank you.

I will be putting on a chocolate sheet cake video shortly. I always follow the recipe as stated, therefore I can't make a recommendation at this time... Thanks for watching and taking the time to write....:)

Hi Diane . i have a quick question . does all of your cakes come out nice and flat like the one you showed? I am making my very first 12x18 inch cake for a church function that is very special and i'm worried that i will get a bump in the middle of the cake. i normally try to make sure that i shake the pan to flatten it out or to make sure that's its even. have you ever had to cut the top part off to get an even topped cake. the event it coming up this weekend. oh and i enjoyed your video.
@thomasplace2 жыл бұрын
On this particular cake no it's always been even. If you try this recipe I think you will be pleased. I made this one for my church gatherings and parties and got rave reviews. Good Luck :)

I have that pan I have one question. Exactly how long did you cook your cake because mine kind of sunk in the middle a little bit where yours came out so perfectly and I have a brand new convection bake oven. But I bake on regular bake. And this weekend on Easter Sunday I am using that cake pan to make my nephews birthday cake he wants a basketball court cake. I read the Wilton guide for the cake pans it tells you how many batters and how long to cook it for. For the 12 x 18 pan it says 16 cups for 55 to 60 minutes 325. Mine kind of sunk in the middle when I opened the oven to check at 50 minutes with cake tester I could tell it wasn’t done and that’s when it sunk. I’ll try again. Do you know exactly how many cake batters in cups you use. Thanks
@thomasplace3 жыл бұрын
Each oven is different, so it may take a couple of attempts to find the right cooking temperature for your cake. Did you bake it at 325? I use the entire batter mixture as in video. I measured the batter cups so long ago but I do recall it was very close or exact to Wilton's guide on there chart. Check your exp date on baking powder etc if you haven't already. If I could make a suggestion I bake ahead and freeze , that way I know the results. If something goes haywire I bake another. I haven't had a issue with this recipe it's been tried and true. Good Luck :)

@@thomasplace thanks I have three cakes to make. 2 for Saturday and one for Easter Sunday. I’m thinking the round 8 inch that one’s going to be dark chocolate cake with mousse filling hulk cake the 2 sheet cake is going to be plain yellow and yes oven at 3:25 but my oven is one years old. Gas I have convection bake regular bake convection roast air fryer and I use it on a regular bag because I was told that the convection bake the oven is a little hotter. So I just use regular bake. Do you sift your flour
@thomasplace3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your going to be busy...Yes I like to sift my flour it helps aerate the flour, which allows it to mix more evenly into batter in certain recipes. Wishing you a good Easter...

Hi Diane! Just wanted to give you an update. I cut the recipe in half and it made exactly 2 dozen cupcakes when I used 1/4 cup batter in each. I tried baking them for 15 mins at 350 degrees but they were overcooked. At 13-14 mins they were perfect. Everyone enjoyed them! Thanks!!!
