My personal theories for the third season 1. Either were only focusing on the spring and summer months and their rescue (which I believe will happen during the winter) won’t happen until the beginning of season 4 OR it will quickly rush through spring and summer into winter and the girls will be rescued with season 4 following the young girls back home and they’re struggle to transition back into society. -either way I just feel like all those months out there in the woods (especially with no technology) a LOT can be covered creatively so it doesn’t make sense to me that they wouldn’t capitalize on the warmer seasons to get a lot done in the plot 2. The girls are going to discover an underground bunker Evidence: - Lottie keeps having visions of an underground bunker like area - Mari swears she keeps hearing dripping which could be an indicator of something being underground bc it’s snowy and when snow melt it drips and that would explain why she didn’t hear the dripping in the previous season during summer -Coach Ben said the previous owner of the cabin was a “dooms day prepper” which seems a little foreshadowing to me -keeping in mind there is an underground part of the cabin (Natalie mentions it in season 1 to Coach Ben when she finds the alcohol under the porch) it’s possible once the cabin burns down and the girls are looking through the rubble they will find the entrance to an underground area 3. I don’t think Ben burned down the cabin - hot take I know but Yellowjackets is a show shrouded in mystery and it loves to mess with the viewer making them question what’s real and what’s the wilderness. I feel like the writers tried to make it too obvious that it was Ben who burned down the cabin which makes me think it was a misdirect and in season 3 when Ben is eventually accused of the fire he genuinely doesn’t know what they’re talking about making the girls question each other or question the wilderness 4. (This is more my personal hope) I want to see more of young Jeff. Older Jeff just has so much to him and I NEEEED his backstory and how the plane going missing affected him. To me, him marrying Shauna after she gets back hints at a LOT of guilt and I’m just dying to see that at some point. Like I want to know what about the crash and Jackie and Shauna made Jeff feel so guilt and indebted that he has loved and stuck by Shauna despite her being a bit crazy (I love her but we have to be real yall- that woman needs a grippy sock vacation). Like did he feel guilty for not looking harder? Did he ever leave their town or did he stay in hopes the girls would one day be found? Did losing both girls make him realize he loves one and not the other? I NEED TO KNOW

I actually didn't mind the winter (it was stunningly filmed, and that's when we get the antler queen) I also love the internal cabin shots. For some reason I really dig that moss growing around the windows and the glow of the candles near those windows. I don't know, I guess I'm a Fall/ Winter person.

I also think the way it was shot was made to make the viewers feel kinda trapped in with the girls, drama all out in the open. that’s how it would happen in real life, getting snowed in with a bunch of teen girls who are going stir crazy with cabin fever. it’s cementing into our minds that these girls are going CRAZYYY

Curious how the group will function once spring cones since they presumably wont need to cannibalize with there being animals to hunt again. Maybe this will cause some sort of divide between the girls who want to cannibalize again and the girls who dont. I've also seen it theorized that Ben didn't actually set the cabin on fire, and that it was either the "friend" Javi had in the woods or one of the group themselves. Some speculate there could be another person in the woods we havent seen yet due to the hunter seeming to have a family before he died. So it could be his child who has survived in the woods all this time and took revenge on the girls for killing Javi.

Agreed I wonder if it being spring will actually make a difference and they will stop hunting each other or if they’re too far gone. Also, I think Ben definitely did it…but I love the theory!

I believe the multiple antler Queen theory is based on the literal seasons of the wilderness. In season one Tai was the leader of the group, Jackie felt displaced and Tai was even called leader during the expidition. Then it became Lottie, continuing into winter until it was Nat.

I REALLY hope that Jackie has at least 1 scene in S3, I think it wouldn’t be a smart move if the writers don’t include any flashbacks, ghost Jackie, etc in 3, as she plays a huge role in Shaunas life and Shauna is a main character.

interesting take...only one thing...for me young Natalie and older Natalie always seemed like a same person...I was VERY different when I was a teenager aswell...but then horrible things happened in my life...I turned more and more to drugs and I became a totally different person, people between 16 and 40 change alot...there are some people I knew in my teens that I dont even recognize anymore

Honestly I think that throughout the show, we’re gonna see two different winters. I heard somewhere (sorry I don’t remember where) that the writers want to have a total of five seasons. Shauna said in s1 that they were out in the wilderness for a total of 19 months and only a little more than nine have passed (dated by shauna giving birth).

There's still 3 girls who have yet to be introduced and given speaking roles. I hope we get to meet these girls next season. Pit Girl being Mari is too obvious. This show constantly switches things up and I think Gen will be Pit Girl. I think Mari survived and might be the villain in the present-day timeline of season 3. Shauna will be AQ in the Pit Girl scenes. I think the reason Nat is so effed up in the present is because she is haunted by the horrific things that occurred during her reign as AQ.

Totally agree, I want to learn more about these background/minor characters. I feel like this would add more stakes and more non-confirmed survivors to root for in the 1996 timeline. Mari surviving is not something I see happening, but I love the theory. Would be a crazy switch up. 100% Natalie's reign as Antler Queen explains why she is the way she is in the present. How do you think Shauna will become Antler Queen?

@@Moth_Movies I think Nat - being the only sane one left - will not be able to deal with being leader with all the carnage going on, and will resign toward the end of S3. By that point, Shauna's brutality and thirst for blood - and flesh - will be so extreme that the others will be terrified of her and appoint her leader just to stay on her good side. She obviously thinks she should be leader, and even wrote about it in her diary.

god i reallyyyy hope they don't have more survivors. i've seen so many people say they want ben or akila to live. i love both the characters (especially ben, i really dont want to see him die but i do think it's inevitable) but it would be such bad writing (and season 2 writing already felt weak compared to season 1) if they spring new survivors on us season after season with no prior mention. it just feels a bit cheap.

This show is a fantastic character study in how different personalities cope with physical, emotional, and psychological trauma. The supernatural element is obviously a manifestation of their guilt-ridden imaginations (especially Lottie), and therefore can't possibly turn out to be anything other than that. How can anyone justify eating their friends to survive and live with it? Oh, because it's what the powerful nature spirit wants us to do. Right? In the meantime, it's looking an awful lot like coach was the one who lit the cabin fire. However, that might be misdirection, and it could turn out to be one of the minor girl characters who ends up being pit girl. We still need to learn more about the dead cabin guy's backstory, the origin of the tree symbols, and what will happen now with the cave now that the cabin is gone. Anyone who ever read Lord of the Flies will remember that the rescue happens at a pivotal moment when things are getting completely out of control. In the present timeline, I don't see things ending well for anyone except maybe Misty, who seems stronger and more adaptable, despite her eccentricities.

I literally think shauna, lottie, taissa , misty, van and natalie all are in a mental hospita for the criminally insane. and because lottie is in psychosis she made up the plane crash and has other patients playing along and brainwashed to think they survived the plane crash and went thru all the terrible things in the woods. Misy must be a serial killers of that timeline. They literally said no one survived the plane crash and i think all the characters represent criminally insane patients in a mental hospital getting their electroshock therapy, hydro therapy, gay conversion therapy, and post pardum depression therapy. But who knows just my theory to you. Tell me what u think. 😅😅
