We were just there and the Dunraven Pass is open. Drove up and over with no issue.

Yep! They got it open early this year. Just goes to show that things are always changing!

Yep, we drove it on Thursday the 16th. It had just opened that day.

Correct, you won't be able to stop in that area at all right now while they are doing construction. You might be able to catch a glimpse of it as you drive past, but there will be nowhere to pull off and park.

Yes! It's probably still pretty snowy up there right now, but Dunraven Pass is now open.

I used to feel that way every time I visited Yellowstone, but when I finally figured out the timing of when to be where, Yellowstone rarely feels super busy to me anymore, even in the middle of the summer! You'll find my timing recommendations here: www.dirtinmyshoes.com/yellowstone-itinerary/

In the middle of the summer it’s quite crowded, but if you understand where to go and when it’s not bad. I would recommend if you tend to get up early. Go somewhere significant early in the day (prior to 10 am at least). Then go to the “lesser” spots in mid day. Then you can also go to significant places again later in the day.
