Every time I take an assignment out west, I always take the route through yellowstone. I want to live there. The first 4 times no bear but all the other animals including foxes. Finally on my way out to west yellowstone, there was the bear running on the tree line at dusk. I was thrilled.

Your first stop in the video is called Grizzly Overlook, a great spot for bear and wolf watching. Where you stopped for lunch is where I saw Raspberry and her cub of the year in early August at dusk. Looks like you hit up some great spots for grizzly watching! Watching the rest of the video now!

When in popular parks early risers have the park to themselves until around 10AM. I generally rise at 4AM and drive to a point where I'm going to spend the day and then have breakfast.

Time of year makes a huge difference on animal sitings. We went in later September and stayed at Tower Falls. From our campsite we heard coyotes at night, elk very early and wolves a bit later in the wee hours every day. A wolf ran in front of our car. A coyote walked toward us. A grizzly mama and 3 babies walked in front of our car across the main road. We saw a black bear on the side of the road, and a red fox (likely the same one) three days in a row in a field of flowers. It's also way less crowded in September (although maybe not this year...).

Lucked out and saw some grizzlies in Denali, along with a bunch of Dahl sheep. Got the major sore butt riding the big green former school bus. In our family, when we were kids, we used to say that a grizzly bear was a bear that just crawled out of a waffle iron. Being the youngest, I don't know where that originated... but you might want to take a waffle iron along on your next visit to Yellowstone, if nothing else, you can have a tasty breakfast!

I use to own a cabin about 25 minutes from the West entrance to Yellowstone,I have been to Yellowstone more times than I can even remember. The best time of year to see Griz is May. I have seen some in September, but more in May. The best places, the road between Mammoth and Roosevelt, Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley.

@@Weretherussos Due to my proximity to Yellowstone, it has really been an advantage for me to go into the Park. I have avoided the primary summer season for years now. I tried to upland a picture I took of one Grizzly I saw. Pretty graphic of it asleep by a carcass of what I think is an elk. I took that picture in early May. The older animals weakened by winter are more susceptible to Grizzly attacks, not anywhere near the number of people in the park so the bears can be seen closer to the roads.

My very first night in Yellowstone, years ago, I found a spot for my pop up TC at Lewis lake. Paid my fee and posted my receipt, then drove up to west thumb. When I got back a tent camping family had MOVED MY RECEIPT and occupied my site. I was NOT a happy camper. It happens, but you were good enough to do the right thing! On subsequent trips I found bears, including my first grizzly, on the NE side, around Slough creek and Tower. I have seen people literally sit for HOURS to see grizz...BTW, my first grizzly? I almost hit him when he darted in front of me near tower!

Cool video. I just found your channel and subscribed. I did a 4 month road trip last year with my cargo trailer conversion and went through Yellowstone and the Tetons about the same time. I also stayed outside of West Yellowstone at a place called Bakers Hole campground. It was ok. I unfortunately didn't see any bears on ,my trip, but it was unseasonably hot for that time of year so I think a lot of the wildlife was not moving a lot. I made a few videos as well but they are not as well done as yours. I look forward to watching ,ore of your videos and hopefully I will be able to hit the road again in 2021. Good luck!

We never saw grizzlies or wolves although the ranger in the campground where we stayed said that they were monitoring a female grizzly and her cub who sometimes visit...never saw it. We have a Four Wheel Grandby and love it but... Four Wheel camper questions: We hate our mattress and wonder if you changed yours. If so what did you do? We have the arctic pack for insulation. What do you do about moisture inside? We keep the vents cracked at night but still have to wipe the moisture buildup in the morning. I noticed that you covered you roof vents. What did you use? Thank we enjoy your videos.

“This tunnel looks the same...”. Hopefully it didn’t look exactly the same. It should have looked the same, only in reverse. 😂😀😂😀. You have to be patient with the bears. We don’t have grizzlies in Virginia; however, we do have black bears. Camped, hiked and biked for years before we ever saw one while camping, hiking, or biking. Actually have seen more black bears around our house than when we’ve been out.

Thank you for creating all of your excellent content. I would add two comments: Have you asked a Park Ranger whether the "pop up" category really applies to you? IMHO, it generally applies to the box trailers with slide out bunks surrounded by canvas i.e. zero bear protection. Your "pop up" if you can call it that is what - maybe - 10' off the ground and your camper is aluminum? Far better bear protection that most fiberglass RVs. Secondly, I'm assuming you are already familiar with the AeroPress but have you tried the Clever Dripper? It's a conical dripper with a stopper on the bottom to allow additional brewing time. Thank you again.
@ScubaSteveCanada
@ScubaSteveCanada 3 жыл бұрын
It's not 10' off the ground when the bear hops up onto the hood, then the cab, then breaks in. Yes, these campers are considered popups. Bears can climb and the P/U truck is providing easy steps up to dinner time.
