This is my favorite episode of the whole show. Simply bc of the scene where Loyd gives Walker the guitar. It’s so powerful and shows the true character of both of them. They’re just men with big hearts at the end of the day.

Beth just absolutely nailed my opinion of lots of people and so called organisations who think they are doing good but are doing absolutely nothing. Because actually doing something that could help is risky, it's hard, it's long hours with very little if any recognition. They don't want to do that.

This is where John shows how much of a piece of shit he really is. Jamie has always acted in his best interest and that of the ranch, regardless of whether it benefited him , it was still the best thing for the ranch. He could have given Jamie the endorsement and reeled him back in to unite his family. Sit him and Beth down and make her settle her problem. You know…he could have been a father. Not only did he not let him get the endorsement, he made him watch it and said “we wouldn’t miss this for the world”. Just to mock him. He had many chances to stop what happens going forward, and he passed it up many times. Which is why I’ve said many times, John is the true villain of this show.

If I remember right it originally took like two years for the next season to finally arrive, because Costner wanted some time off to start filming his Horizon series. So all of us who were following the show as it aired watched John announce for governor and then had to wait two dang years to find out what happens next. It was a loooong wait. The same thing is currently happening with 1924. We've been waiting for over a year now for the cliffhanger to resolve.

This is actually the point where I lost respect for John. They could’ve given Jaime a heads up that John was getting the endorsement. He preaches that Jamie is his son, but honestly, he treats Jamie like the proverbial red headed step child! Fun little piece of trivia; Ryan Bingham, the guy who plays Walker, is an actual musician. His band is called The Dead Horses. Also, the girl Walker is dating on the show, Laramie, they got married IRL.

Same here. I agree. And it bothered me. John is a crap dad but this moment with Jamie and John felt genuinely malicious. Cruel. Deliberate, PLANNED cruelty. I get it with Beth. She is so full of hate, she luxuriates in moments of cruelty to Jamie. But with John, it was wrong on so many levels. And made it feel like John NEVER cared about Jamie in any capacity whatsoever. He used him. He manipulated him. He never cared about him one iota. And now John is being actively cruel and malicious. Almost gleefully so. And when people say, well John put Jamie through law school, so what?!!! Jamie didn't want to be a lawyer. He was TOLD by John to go be a lawyer. John didn't give a crap what Jamie wanted. Jamie had no value to John except in whatever he could make him do to help the family as John sees it. But while that seemed very controlling, it didn't seem deliberately cruel. This was cruel.

I think that what really threw Beth was the infrastructure plan that included land that they don't own. My guess is that it involves a much bigger chunk of the Yellowstone beyond what Jamie leased to them. And, they aren't the least bit concerned about getting it.
