Separation is about them not killing Kayce's family not Jamie.
@optix101214 сағат бұрын
The key is in the episode title folks, when trying to understand what Kaycee did in the end with Mo. Counting coup is a tradition of Plains Indians warriors in North America where they gain prestige by intimidating the enemy in battle. The goal is to get close enough to the enemy to touch them without being killed or injured. Thats why he pistol whipped the assasin and held a gun to his daughter's head. He was Counting coup.
@technofilejr340113 сағат бұрын
Very good explanation. It was a loss of prestige for an enemy who could have ended you to just tap you on the shoulder. You know your continued breathing is not because of your own fighting prowess. It’s because your enemy chose not to end you.

The big thing with this, because Grant was the point of contact and probably set everything up, if he reports what happened to his bosses, they're going to clean house on everything, which means Grant and his family as well, as Kaycee was able to track him down. By doing this, Kaycee guarantees that Grant will not tell his company or anyone about what happened, which means that Kaycee himself and his family will be in the clear.

Beth telling Carter "sure you do" was my favorite scene in the whole series from her. She finally gave him a spot in her heart and was actually being a Mother to Carter. Loved it. ❤

It goes back to his vision. Mo was the one he asked for a favor from on the phone. To the lay person, threatening the kid was way overboard, but to killers, if you want to get his attention, there is only one way. Mo is the freaking way of this show. He's the wisest, calmest, I'll freaking end your bloodline if you cross me guy. Love that dude.

The deal was implied: Kayce leaves his family alone if the contractor leaves Kayce’s family alone. Also Kayce had to do it in front of his daughter, to show that sympathy for children will not stop him from taking revenge if he so chooses.
@goeltrolden11 сағат бұрын
It was moreso to create mutual assured destruction. If his bosses knew that Kayce had not only found him, but gotten close enough to count coup, he would get killed along with his family, because his daughter was in the car. Kayce removed his family from the line of fire, by placing Grant's in the blast radius.

The whole scene between Kayce and the hitman/contractor in the car where they're talking about separation meaning : Basically at the very beginning when Sarah contracted them, she was warned if this comes back on them they will spin it to make it look like it was Sarah and Jamie, and anyone involved or that knows anything would be taken out. Separation in this situation means the contractors have enough distance from the situation where they feel safe to not be implicated. Kayce said I'm trading my family for yours means you leave mine alone or I can touch you any time I want. Means don't touch me and I won't touch you. Find separation another way if you feel like you need to distance yourself from the assassination. 😎👍

Why do you think Kaycee didn't just kill Grant? Would that just cause more blowback on the Duttons and put them in more danger? Or was it more personal, thinking about Monica and Tate, and trying to be a good man?
@goeltrolden11 сағат бұрын
@BostonAmy Grant was worth more alive than dead. Kayce made a really smart move Mainly because if Grant's bosses found out that Kayce not only found him but got close enough to count coup, then they'd clean house, and Grant's family would get culled too. By going straight to him and saying, this ends here, it's mutual assured destruction. Grant won't talk, Kayce's family are not and will not become targets in an effort to guide the investigation away from the firm he works for, like they did by removing Sarah. By killing her, they know it links her to John's murder, but it doesn't point to who she hired.

Don't believe all the tabloid rumors. Kevin Costner never had a beef with Taylor Sheridan. Production on Yellowstone was delayed and he told them he was going off to make his dream movie Horizon. Paramount studios told him to come back for filming for 3 months and he said "uh no, I'm filming my movie, I'll give you 3 weeks." Studio came back and said fine, make it 1 week but we're cutting your pay. Costner came back and said well screw you all then, it's not even worth coming back and I have stuff to do.

They didn't take into consideration covid or the strike delays that happened and did not adjust contracts accordingly!! You can't blame the actor that wants to move on with their life or do something in the time that they have between making Yellowstone if the company and the production apparatus did not account for these delays!! You Cannot expect actors to just bow down to your demands when they are unreasonable or against what the contract States!! He is making it clear that there will be no more tying up of loose ends in Kasey’s family. He showed the guy how easy it was for Kasey to find him and get to what is most precious to him too. This is all about ending the threat against the Duttons and counting coup… that’s his “you don’t get to question ot or change your mine because I own a piece of your soul now. Keep your word or lose your family.” I’m not surprised Mo is there for this. He has proven To Kasey he’s a good man in a crisis and he respected John.

Reel Rejects, Cosmic Wonder, Galaxy Geeks, IJustine, and more. I just have to say you’re my favorite channel. I grew up in California until I was 8 and moved to the Rocky Mountains with my Cowboy step father and mother. This show has brought up so many memories because if you look up the small town of Jemez Springs NM, and the Valles Caldera Preserve where my father and I worked on you’ll see. I actually grew up like this and graduated HS on an Indian Reservation called Jemez Pueblo/Jemez Valley HS, and did rodeo on the side with my barrel racing GF. I lived this life and I also went into the military OIF Army/Paratrooper/Intelligence. Now 39 and retired with my wife in NC, she and her friends always say you’re the real life Kayce. Then I say I use to be, my wife was able to contain that crazy part of myself 😂 and now I’m just some boring video/edit guy. Well I like you both because unlike many KZbin content creators you seem so damn kind and humble, I appreciate that. Keep the reactions coming and can’t wait for you both to do the spinoffs. Cheers!

I couldn't even get sad about Colby's death cause I was so enraged at how absolutely unnecessary of a character death that was. It felt like his death was so they could use the opportunity to "humanize" Beth and show her softer side. Which could've been done without killing a primary character, 2 episodes before the show ends.

Just wanted to say Colby's actor had no clue his character was going to die. He had no plans to leave the show. So for all those trying to justify his death as making sense... no... It doesn't. TS just wanted to put Teeter on the 6666 show and didn't want Colby's actor there. Stop acting like TS isn't problematic. If you watched the rest of this season you know how big his ego is..... Would recommend looking up Counting Coup and how it was used. Often was used as an alternative to outright battle. If one tribe could infiltrate an enemy tribe and 'count coup', then it would deter a full battle where lives would be lost. Counting Coup was getting close enough to show that you could have killed them if you wanted to, but you didn't.

Here’s the other answer. “Getting separation” means they can’t be tied to the hit. Cassie had no way of knowing that when they hit the woman to “get separation” that it was enough and that they weren’t going to come after the rest of the Duttons family. So to make sure Cassie is “trading his family “ for the hit man’s as an agreement saying you don’t come after anymore of us I won’t kill you and yours. At least that was my interpretation. There was no reason in the story line to kill Colby. That was just Sheridan being an a$$hole. It serves no purpose at this point in five seasons, to take out major characters. We knew Costner wasn’t coming back. I’ve done a lot of research to know there were issues. Costner did not like the governor storyline. He was an executive producer. Because Sheridan had so many shows, he couldn’t keep up. Then the writers and actors strike. Costner was notified when they were going to film part 2 for season five. He then scheduled filming his Horizons around the Yellowstone schedule. This meant planning over 500 cast, crew, location, sets, costumes, etc. Then … Sheridan couldn’t meet his original schedule. Costner could not stop the Horizons production that was already in motion. He offered to come back for a week to film his demise properly but Sheridan and Paramount said NO Thanks. They still owe Costner like $300K+, contractually.
