Can I just say I love how much Nikki loves this show. It's great and I love it for you and Stephen alike. But there is something so pure about how much Nikki loves it and I feel like this is her just reward for all the horror movies and jump scares she's suffered through. Love to you both, haha. but happy for Nikki you're getting this! It only gets better!

34:06 You'll come to understand that almost nothing in this series is just a throw-away line. It's one of the most richly textured shows I've ever seen in the sense that callbacks and echoes reverberate through all three seasons. I don't want to spoil anything, obvs, but just know that when you see smt that moves you, just know that the writers have elevated that tenfold and will be coming back to it at some point. A good show gives you nuggets along the way. A great show plants seeds and then gives you fruit over and over and over and over.
@Anubisblack11 сағат бұрын
Nice. I see what you did there.
@santa156311 сағат бұрын
I agree whole heartedly. I commented on an earlier video that there are no throw-away lines, everything is purposeful and has intent. doesn’t mean we need to over analyze anything but this show def rewards people who pay attention.

One of my favorite stealth pop culture references is here. When Sassy tells Ted she’s going to get a huge breakfast and charge it to his room, he says, “I’ll be your Underhills any day.” That’s a reference to the movie Fletch, where Fletch charges different things to the obnoxious Underhills’ accounts. It’s an even sneakier family reference, because the Fletch cast includes George Wendt, who is Jason Sudeikis’s uncle.

What I love about that darts scene, besides the overall message behind it, is that Ted doesn't just kick Rupert's ass in darts and then tell him to f*ck off. He uses it as a teachable moment to try and show Rupert why his approach to life in general lost him this darts game and will ultimately end with him losing everyone in his life too. Even for evil jerk like Rupert, Ted tries to be a force for positive change. "Diamond Dogs" is also the name of a David Bowie album from 1974. The title track from that album is playing at the very end of the episode.

Not just him but the whole pub. He was able to win over the crowd in that moment and the tone of the three usuals even changes after this point.
@anonymes288411 сағат бұрын
@@mcqueen0195 It's definitely a big step but he was _already_ winning over the three fans (the mouthiest insults him then says "No offence Ted" for instance - on a personal level they already like him I think, they're just each in their "role" of "diehard fan" and "manager that's getting there but has yet to _really_ turn things around"). (I bring that up because for me the show's point is, there's no one "big moment" where you win people over - being genuine, kind etc. is a process, not a destination)

DIAMOND DOGS, MOUNT UP!!!!! The one we have all been waiting for! Nikki...a dodecahedron is a 12-sided polyhedron. For a tabletop gaming example...a 12-sided die, each face is a pentagon. I think they chose that joke because the word dodecahedron sounds funny. With all of the stuff in this episode, this has been one we have all waited for. - The reveal of the Diamond Dogs - The beginning of Roy and Keeley - Higgins standing up to Rebecca - Best of all...the Darts Hustle/Teachable moment with Rupert getting smacked down. - Keeley finds out the truth about the pictures and makes Rebecca accountable. This is my favorite episode of this season!

In fairness to Michelle, I think at least 3 weeks had gone by. They had a loss and a tie since even Jamie left, and they were up to another match. I don’t think it was meant to be rushed. With Ted’s panic attack, without spoiling anything- look over what he heard in his head at that point. That’s a hint. As far as Rebecca- I’ve seen some people interpret it as she immediately left, and some as she waited to the end of her song. I personally think it’s the latter because I’d find it strange if no one else noticed both Ted leave and Rebecca rush out from the middle of a song onstage. Surely Keeley and Sassy would. I think it’s that Ted lost track of the moment because he was struggling to concentrate, so it felt immediate. But I like that it’s not certain. Everyone can interpret what made sense to them. St. Bernard for being there for her. Bourbon as a reference to Kansas city. I love with Keeley too that she understands the photo set up was before their friendship and she got caught in the crossfire of scheming. But she insists on Rebecca telling Ted.
@DelGuy0311 сағат бұрын
I agree with you that we don't really have hard evidence as to how much time passed between Ted going outdoors and Rebecca joining him. I, like you, prefer to think that she finished her song (there wasn't that much of it left anyway), and then found Ted unobtrusively.
@anonymes288411 сағат бұрын
Yeah, that's one of those times this show zigs when the obvious move is to zag - Keeley's angry because of what it means for Ted, not for her. Just after her wobble with the Jamie/Roy thing in other words, she's right back to being the grown-up in pretty much any situation (when they _could_ have made it a big dramatic bust up with her and Rebecca).

I was enjoying the show up tk this point. It was funny and emotional with loads of amazing characters. Then this came and I was HOOKED! From the Diamond Dogs to Ted putting Rupert in his place for Rebecca it locked me in as a hardcore fan. Then Keli comes in with proof of what Rebecca did and the look Rebecca has in that she hurt Keli had me needing to binge the rest of the series. Rupert was a hole before this episode but his petty nature in this one made me loath the jerk. Glad you are why we all wants you to use Diamond Dogs.

There is so much to love about this show. I’ve always been fascinated by all the callbacks. I made a list of over 160 of them, and I know I’m still missing some. Here’s one for this episode. A couple of episodes ago, Rebecca was messing with Keeley about having a notebook with “unicorn” written on it, to which Keeley playfully told her, “F*** off, it’s adorable.” Higgins recoiled and said he was thinking about Rebecca would react if he told her to F off. Fast forward to this episode, and the first thing he says when he’s had enough is, “Oh f*** off!”

Give me a shout-out Gen X! “Barbecue sauce” - Remember when Ted asked if there’s a food that took her back to her childhood, and she looks at the biscuits? Well, in that moment Ted was reminiscing about that Arthur Bryant’s BBQ sauce. Seriously, though, this is in contention for my favorite episode of the entire series. I see lots of people already explained that a dodecahedron is a 12-sided 3D shape. “hedron” means 3D shape in the way that “gon” from polygon (I.e. hexagon, dodecagon) is a 2D shape. “Do” (2) + “deca” (10) is 12. One more fun bit: “Icos” is 20, so an icosahedron is a 20-sided figure. And if you really want to confuse people, “stellated” just means that the flat faces have points coming out of them, making the shape look like a star. So look up “stellated icosahedron” for some cool looking star shapes. 😜

You know, sometimes you have the courage to speak up against your friend if you think they're the type of person that might actually receive it. Rupert is just awful, so Higgins standing up to him with get him nothing but fired. But being willing to confront Rebecca, it's cuz deep down he knows that she's a good person. He could possibly get through to her, she's better than Rupert.

Plus,Higgins telling Rebecca off is also an oft-missed callback to S01E06 (the Iverson Speech episode): Rebecca asks Keely if she couldn’t find a notebook without the word unicorn on it, and Keely says “F*ck off! It’s adorable”. Then Higgins says he wonders just how Rebecca would react if he told her to “Eff off” and they all laugh hysterically before she snidely dismisses him…

The one thing about that dart scene is that he did ask him "do you play darts?" and Ted's answer was "I'm more of a cornhole guy myself" and then Ted does this whole speech about if you would've asked you'd have known. It's a great monolog but would've been even better if they found a better way to get into the dart competition

Rupert said, "Do you like darts?" Ted didn't say he played or not.
@taylormccusker64995 сағат бұрын
It makes it a terrible scene for me. I'm normally not pretentious, but Rupert literally asks him and then Ted goes on this rant about people never asking him questions. And, while we've seen Ted isn't perfect, the moral is that it's okay to be manipulative and dishonest as long as you believe you are correct? Finally, it ends with such an absurd overconfidence when you realize that even professional dart players would be lucky to have a better than 20% chance of hitting a bullseye, let alone the other 2 darts. They were intentionally messing with the audience as 170 is considered the most difficult to get. Him being confident about getting it like they show makes him the greatest dart player of all time, especially when it's implied that he was intentionally setting it up. This entire scene was made to take the piss out of the audience, and somehow people think it's the best lol. They might as well have had a race, and halfway through Ted should have told Rupert he's ran a 3 minute mile while running with with his dad once a week. And then you have the people who think "barbeque sauce" meant some profound callback when it's just because of Bullseye BBQ sauce lol. I hate this scene. I love Ted Lasso.

Since you asked: a dodecahedron is a 3-dimensional geometric shape with 12 faces. Like, for example, the 12-sided dice you use in Dungeons and Dragons. I'm really glad I looked it up first, because I thought it was a 20-sided shape. But a 20-sided die is an icosahedron as it turns out.

When people ask me to describe what Ted Lasso is about I don’t tell them a plot, I just let them know it’s chicken noodle soup for the soul
