I actually own Mary Skelter 1 and 2, I really enjoyed the lore from what I saw so far in 1. But I was really tired of dungeon crawlers when I bought it, am thinking about going back to finish it though. I appreciate the game's unique tone/atmosphere

Why would you play second game before first one? Everything should be played in release order.

You can technically play the first and second game in any order. I started with the second game and that's totally fine and actually what quite a few people recommend doing because of how the games are connected but you could also just play the first game and stop before the post game content, then play 2 and then you can finish the post game.

To be fair, they would never reveal it is coming to PC unless they are making an official announcement. Like the new Neptunia and Senran Kagura crossover is likely coming to PC, but no way would they reveal that on a stream.

@@SuperOtakuKyo It makes sense, Australians can't play Finale because it was refused classification. Porting to PC is pointless. Australians are better off buying a amercian switch copy on Ebay. Then again, I don't see why everyone else can't get a pc port.

I disagree with the idea that Mary Skelter 2 is supposed to be played before Mary Skelter: Nightmares. At the risk of conceptual spoilers, while Mary Skelter 2 is technically a prequal to Mary Skelter Nightmares on switch, it is still also a sequel to Mary Skelter Nightmares, whether you played it on Vita or Switch first. I can't imagine that for new players the MS2 story and it's major twist especially work as effectively if you didn't play Mary Skelter Nightmares first. I played Nightmares on Vita, then MS2, then Nightmares on Switch, but the best order should be MSN on Switch, get the original true ending, play MS2, and then go back to MSN on switch for the new true ending.

In terms of chronology, I can explain this bit: The true order of Mary Skelter goes Nightmares (Vita/PC) -> 2 -> Nightmares (Remake) -> Finale. While it can be confusing for first time players: the reason u play skelter 2 before Nightmares on switch, mainly has to do with how the true ending unfolds in 2 Plus, there's bonus content that is otherwise not present, in the original Nightmares

22:23 this is interesting, there are 2 diferent ways of playing these games: - mary skelter nightmares (this is the first one) on pc or vita version, then mary skelter 2 then mary skelter finale -mary skelter 2 (switch version, ps4 english version doesn't exist because Sony's censorship policy), then the first one ( is included in mary 2 and is unlocked after finishing the game so mary skelter 2 switch version force you to play 2 then 1), then mary skelter finale both ways are pretty unique because events in each game hit diferent if you know or not the characters -you can also start directly in finale becasue mary 1 and 2 story events are included as a bonus in the game ( i don't recommend this because you lose gameplay value but if you dont have a switch is fine i guess) i bought the limited edition and it's amazing the novels are something you rarely see, i already finished the game and i sadly I realized watching this video about the existence of the free jobs/skins dlc u.u

Ever since I learned about this series and heard some of it's music back in an Erick Landon RPG video, I wanted to get into them. Altough I seriously want the boxes and cartridges... BUT 1) Released for the Vita (and we all know how Vita prices are) or packaged with 2 but 2) Only via limited run games years ago, nowadays only by a hell of a lot in eBay, and 3) it's the finale so even if I find it Cib in my country, I'll have to wait to get the first two games to even unpack it.

I preordered it, Amazon canceled my preorder one day after its release and then I went to Iffys european shop, paid a lot of import tax and all that stuff and it also did take ANOTHER MONTH to get from the UK to germany, for some weird reason. But now I own the special edition, which is a great one. These books are a nice change of pace, as I really hate the standard "one artbook, a CD and a metal case" special editions. Really looking forward to playing it, as I LOVED the first one on Vita :) Still not sure if I actually want to play MS2 before that.

Only ever seen the original on steam and thought it looked like my type of game. Didn't know about 2 and 3. Until both are released on pc ill guess ill be sailing the high seas as is no reason not to release them on pc as well as consoles.

Honestly, I have to disagree on Finale being better, than the previous 2. While I admit that there are some unique mechanics. There were so many additional nerfs/oddities they implemented. For starters: -Blood Crystal Accumulation. It's very scarce even on the jail roulette, unless you add the jail trials to boost drops. -Chapter 1's Blood Farm Zones disappear, from Ch. 2 and onward. -Clara's group has the hardest time getting thru Licard early game, due to Gretel's lack of defense as a physical attacker. -A menu/hub option would've been a better substitute for item transferring, than the drop box. -split party navigation. While I like the concept, this causes issues like basic progression or side quests becoming time consumers, especially when emotion points are involved...as they can spawn out of that party's section/reach. -if Judgment Tower wasn't an eyesore on switch: Salvation will force you, to physically dim your TV's brightness settings -Audio cues/mixes for some characters (mainly Snow White and Gretel) are very quiet/hard to hear at certain points (an issue that wasn't present, in the past 2 games) -Blood Farm Zones (outside of jail pieces and healing items) aren't as useful as they were, in 2. Especially since Finale wants the player to find and shrink certain weapon/gears for bigger stat bonuses. Again: I really want to love Finale...and I still respect your opinion and perspective. But, the only time I have any amount of enjoyment is when Im temporarily relived of dungeon progress, and get to hear/read the next set of story or event dialog. This game needed more chapters, and some smaller dungeon maps. Then, gradually ease the player into the bigger maps like they did in Nightmares & 2. Rather than starting every dungeon so ENORMOUS. 2 and Nightmares are more worth your time/value, than Finale.

@@scanchannel3259 That's how I initially approached Finale: I've played every Mary Skelter game for the story, and the story alone. with that being said: I still don't see what makes Finale just as enjoyable, or better than the past 2 games. It took me ages, to get thru Eiserne & Grave Tower at my own pace...while also taking the time, to grind & blood devolve my parties as needed. Salvation lead to my 1-year hiatus of Finale, bcuz my current, strongest weapon(s) at that point are now starting to deal less damage. I also had to start leaving some obstacles untouched/unbroken, bcuz Toh & Clara don't have as easy of a time with blood recovery, like Jack does w/ Otsuu's dungeon ability. Bottom line: if I have to resort to a google doc, for the SM equipment pieces w/ stat bonuses...just to "simply progress" the story and chapters: that is a major design flaw, within Finale's core gameplay.

Yeah, for purists, I could understand why they didn't want to support the latest game. Idea Factory has been pretty shitty in recent years when it comes to censorship, it's the reason why I've sworn off future games unless there are changes made. Plus, it's a game released in 2021.. Also on PS4.. Yeah, no. Luckily there are other franchises that haven't sold their soul to Sony, but it's a damn shame this happened. Honestly, I'd only play the latest game if I've played the first two to death (ironically), so that's plenty of hours before I have to decide that. As someone who is a serious purist, this really irks me. (NOTE: I don't buy anything that has been censored unless it's a VERY rare circumstance, nor do I support studios that use similar policies to Sony, this is different if the franchise started that way, I actually didn't buy Crystar on PS4 due to that "acceptable" censorship to some people, luckily it wasn't an exclusive. Some people are okay with minor stuff. Myself? Nah. I can't. Once you've seen what has been censored, you can't forget it, I'll notice it constantly, and it'll only continually hamper my enjoyment knowing that some asshole altered the experience due to some corporate bullshit. If I decide to support that corporate bullshit, I'm only enabling them to continue to do it. It's not that I don't want to support the series, I would love to if it wasn't handled this way (some devs confuse low sales numbers with people not being interested, they just lost a lot of sales of people like me, who would've gladly bought it, but didn't because of this). I'm not going back to the 90s and 2000s, fuck that.)

Too bad the fan service in this title is toned down a bit compared to 1 and 2. Some blood skelter designs were altered as well. I'm now thinking twice on buying new IF games moving forward. It's either they sever their ties with Sony or I won't spend a single cent anymore.

The original version of the first game is on Vita. It is outdated in the canon now due to a remake of the first game that can be unlocked by playing Mary Skelter 2 or you can get free DLC to unlock it without playing Mary Skelter 2. Mary Skelter 2 is only on Switch at least in English due to Sony's policies most likely, they skipped the PS4 version. The last game, Mary Skelter Finale is on PS4 and Switch. The only game in the series on PC is the original version of the first Mary Skelter. So right now the only way to play the series as intended on one platform in English is on Switch.

@@maroXUprising I passed on the latest two Neptunia games(not counting the re-remakes, don't really need those. I play on PC, I don't buy the same game five times for every new console generation). They don't even try to hide it anymore that people outside of Japan are second class customers to them. In the beginning I still had hopes that we would one day get international versions of the games that get the same treatment as the Japanese versions. Like the same amount of voiced scenes for example. But their newest games don't have english voices at all. Their localizations get lazier and cheaper and they still expect people to pay full price for that?! Thanks, but no thanks! And if they want to destroy their other franchises as well just to cling to a dying platform, it's time for them to go! Let's see how many games they sell now that most of the PS5s are in the hands of scalpers.

@@skyknight0408 while I don’t have problems with the lack of Dub in the recent Nep games, it’s quite bad that IFI hasn’t dubbed the previous nep spin off titles lately. Btw, apparently one of the dialogues in the nep X Senran game, vert goes on about talking how games with fan service is being treated badly, and censorship is bad or something along those lines…..the hypocrisy coming from the translation team….spouting the truth while also bending the knee and accepting to make games tame just to appease platform holder & SJW’s.

@@maroXUprising Yikes! Having one of the characters complain about censorship while self censoring to get on the good side of a bad company is even worse. I only got the older nep games(and IF games in general) when they where on sale, because if I only get half of the lines voiced that the Japanese audience got, I'm not paying more than half the price for that. I think the international versions would have the potential to sell more copies, but they never will because they always half-ass the localization. Just my opinion.

I’ve known about CH/IFI games for a long time but never bought them until their games started to pop up on the switch.Mainly getting IF games when they go on sale. Most of their games aren’t worth paying more then $10 at best since they half ass and cut corners A LOT….not to mention their switch ports have been extremely bad. Like I get the switch is UNDERPOWERED….but c’mon your telling me the switch can’t run Megadimension Neptunia with a capped Frame rate & horrible graphical performance…nah, I don’t buy that BS…when games like Monster Hunter Rise, Astral Chain to name a few look at play very well on.

It’s a 3D dungeon crawler so yeah, it’s pretty much common for the genre. The obvious differences is that EO has the whole Map designing gameplay that is unique to itself.
