Cheers Craig! if they only need a tickle up just use a good steel file at home. if very blunted from a rock etc then use a bench grinder/angle grinder is confident enough. If you dont have the tools, then take it into your local spearfishing shop and they will sharpen it up for you for free. if they dont do it for free then move onto the next store!

Hey Ollie, another great video. Do a personal gear video when you get a chance. I see you banging the shaft on reef sometimes; how do you keep it sharp?
@olliecraig-primalpursuit2 жыл бұрын
I made a gear guide vid about two years ago, still fairly relevant. When I shoot a fish and spear goes through into the reef, you would be suprised how much it slows down going through the fish, usually enough to not blunt the shaft tip. having said that, Still try not to shoot into rocks!!!
@lknanml2 жыл бұрын
Yep. All that crackling noise comes from anything and everything that touches the reef. Walk through your house. Do a few normal tasks. Even setting a cup down as soft as you can makes a tap noise. Walking and touching anything makes a noise. Life is noisy! The afterlife is always banging on the walls of reality yelling keep it down down there. We are trying relax and transcend up here!

Hi Olli, congratulations to your videos. On this particular one, are you using a closed nozzle on your spear gun? Is there any conflict with the pins on the shaft? Regarding your boat. That's a really cool one!! Maybe you could make a video about it showing the details and pros and cons for spearfishing trips... 🤙
@olliecraig-primalpursuit2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andre, I am using a closed Muzzle Speargun in this Video. I am using a notched shaft, not with raised tabs. I prefer this style as its easier to bring the shaft back through the fish after spearing. It's not my boat, but very cool! Thanks for the comment

I noticed that there is only two of you on the boat and both of you are in the water at the same time, do you leave the boat unattended when you and your buddy are in the water? Were there any instances where that created an issue for you? (I am not trying to chastise you at all, I am merely trying to learn from you. I know that it is an issue trying to find a qualified person to man the boat when the divers are all in the water).

Josh needs to learn not to take shots he's not confident with,and requiring a second shot on a small kingfish is not good viewing...always best to hit few inches above the green line to snap their spines.
@olliecraig-primalpursuit2 жыл бұрын
Shit happens. Lots of things can happen causing a lost fish, slightly bent shaft, hitting spine/bone etc causing off centred shots or stopping shaft going all the way through, some rare times even with a properly tuned flopper it sometimes doesn’t open/engage properly. Josh has shot more kingfish then most divers I know including me. Shooting a few inches above the lateral line and you will be nearing the top of the back which will also be risky of tearing out. That’s also isn’t where their spines are, spines run directly under the lateral line. Best safe shot placement I have found is directly behind the pec fin just slightly above the lateral line. If you have enough power in speargun then shoot directly smtheough lateral line will ‘spine’ the fish immobilising them. Cheers for the comment
