Fitzroy (and most of the inner-north) has become stupidly expensive to eat now. Ironically it's become a lot cheaper to eat out and drink on Chapel St, Prahran & Windsor, than it is up in the traditionally working class Fitzroy, Collingwood, Northcote, Brunswick etc now!

Some people have standars. I only eat fast food if there’s a new or limited item thats interesting or worth trying. Kfc makes me want to puke. As does mcd. Hungry jacks might be the only fast food place (apart from subway but i dont really eat there either) where their burgers dont make me gag. They actually (mostly) taste like a real burger. Almost. The slow cooked pork and slaw burger is dare i say, pretty good! Reminds me of the ones mcd in japan offers. $7 for a tiny burger though.... Believe me you’re much better off getting something decent but still cheap. $25 at tim ho wan and that $25 feels like money well spent.

FYI most most pubs and bars in melbourne offer a cheap lunch deal....... At almost EVERY pub you will see a sign for 'parma and pot' and what that is is a snitzel with tomato paste and melted cheese on it and chips on the side also a pot is a large glass of beer. Lunchtime deal can often be around $10 to $15........ Aussies R so obsessed with parmas that some pubs offer different versions like the Hawaiian parma, The Aussie parma, the avocado parma so it always has the tomato paste and cheese but the hawaiian might have ham and pineapple on it too.

Missed out on so many actual cheap eats. Dumpling houses in Chinatown can give you a huge plate of dumplings for less than $10. Asian Beer Cafe in Melbourne Central (as of a couple of years ago when I was at uni) did a great $4 pizza lunch deal. Lygon Street has quite a few reasonably priced restaurants where you can get Italian food - my mate and I used to go to Universal all the time for a cheap and tasty lunch. I would never, ever pay $19 for a burger and chips.

Australia, and Melbourne especially has been a huge hub for immigration from Europe post-war, from Vietnam in the 60s and later from South Sudan! Melbourne has the largest Greek population in the world outside of Athens! Melbourne was also the first place in the country to introduce Italian-style coffee! We have even had a huge Chinese population since the 1850s, during the Victorian gold rush. So much of Australian cuisine is authentic or fusion cuisine - I highly recommend getting over here for our fantastic food scene.

Chris, you're doing the beef pepper rice wrong. Shame on you LOL!! You should not cook the beef separately, you're supposed to mix the raw beef with the rice as soon as possible and cook them together so that the rice is flavored with the beef juices and the beef is (partially) cooked with the steam produced from the bed of rice. That's the officially recommended method of cooking from the restaurant anyway.

$19 is an absolute bloody rip off! Hotels serve beer and drinks not proper hamburgers! It looked ok though but there's better things available for a lot less than $19 believe me. If you want the best value for money and best tasting Hamburgers and Steak Sandwiches there are only 2 places worth going to that are truly the best and will save you a lot of time and money - Embassy Taxi Cafe in West Melbourne ( 547 Spencer Street open 24 hours)and Andrews Hamburgers in Bridport Street, Albert Park (and now also in Franklin Street in the city). Andrews Hamburgers has been voted the best hamburger in Australia on a number of occasions and both of these joints are institutions! Greek food - the best places are Jim's Greek Tavern, Johnston Street Collingwood and Lambs on Lygon Street, Carlton. There is also a Greek Souvlaki joint at 315 Brunswick Street which is pretty good too with incredibly nice tender lamb. Steak houses - Vlados in Bridge Road, Richmond and best Charcoal Chicken is Melbourne Charcoal Chicken, Victoria Avenue, Albert Park. Not all of these places are cheap, but when you compare the quality of the food to some crappy places and the prices they charge, then it works out probably about the same in terms of value for money. Best pub in Melbourne - Exford Hotel, Russell Street, City (great Pizza's $8 and nice drinks) and also the Mitre Tavern in Bank Place, City and Sherlock Holmes Tavern, Collins Street, City but the Exford is the best of the 3. The very best restaurant in Melbourne as far as I'm concerned is a showdown between The Teppanyaki Inn at 182 Collins Street, City, Vlados in Bridge Road, Richmond and The Flower Drum in Market Lane, City and also a real hot little joint which is worthy of short listing called Ants Bistro in Corrs Lane, City (off Little Bourke Street in Chinatown). Best Pizza joints, by far, are Favori Pizza, Victoria Avenue, Albert Park and Patony's Pizza, Clarendon Street, South Melbourne (opposite Coles). Best Thai restaurant is Chin Chin, Flinders Lane, City and Thai Taste, Johnston Street, Collingwood. There you go, I haven't listed all cultures of course but that's 50 years experience of eating in Melbourne for you that will definitely direct you to some very serious mouth watering encounters which you may not have been aware of for your next video!! Happy eating! Cheers,C.

$19 burgers?! You can have a cheaper night at Revs and not have to worry about eating for two days

The fish and chip shop would’ve charged cheaper for a burger with beetroot in it

Beetroot is delicious in a burger and helps counter the heavy meat.

I love Singapore :). But I think the Australian Dollar isn't worth as much as the Singapore Dollar
@brandonjones64606 жыл бұрын
Yellow Productions 1 Australia dollar equal 1.01 Singapore dollar and has been at the 1 to 1 rate for a while now and before that was worth more then the Singapore dollar.

I live in Melbourne and I know a place you can get a burger and fries for $8.50 so you should probably explore before claiming that $19 is cheap....😳😬

And the place for the cheap burgers is? :)
@YellowProductions6 жыл бұрын
I'll check it out next time.. thanks for the tip!

Not if you're going to a proper burger joint. Usually the cheapest burger on a menu is a cheese burger which is usually around $8 - $10. I'm not talking about fast food burgers. Legit burger places with fresh ingredients often go for about $15-20 for a burger with fries.

Satay (Sate) is originally from Indonesia, not Malaysia. And the "Mee Goreng" that you mentioned which is also in that Malaysian restaurant, it's actually called "Bakmie" which is originally from China. Wth Malaysians like to steal other countries' dishes to claimed to be theirs - -" Btw, I'll go to Melbourne too in 2 weeks. Am so excited 🥰

I'm Canadian, and found that food/groceries in Australia, in general isn't inexpensive. I love Australia nonetheless.
