If you were to pronounce it as it's spelled in English then yeah you-kee is how you could say it, but in Korean it's more like oo-gee. But both English and Korean pronunciations are different from the actual Chinese pronunciation. If you wanted to stick with the Korean translation/pronunciation of her name then it's oo-gee. If you watch their i-talks and other videos you can hear how they pronounce her name :)

But Minnie is a nickname she's had from her family before she became part of Idle, so it's her real nickname and not just a stage name or anything. They just used her existing nickname from back home as a stage name.

I love that you mentioned the aspect ratio changes because it ties in with the concept Soyeon was going for. The shots has a gold border when they were alone, like a cage. When discussing the concept, Soyeon said she wanted to portray that even when lions are caged (or hunted for art or fashion or deified), they are still majestic kings of the jungle. This is because each set has a meaning: Minnie - lion hunted and put in a museum Soyeon - lion in a cage trying to break free Soojin - hurt lion painted and de-clawed Miyeon - lion made into an art piece with daggers Yuqi - lion made into a "god" by humans Shuhua - lion put on display as a fashion piece You see a glimpse of the lion on top of the platform Minnie was sitting on and there's a shot of the lion painted and glorified but Soojin was lying in front of it hurt and wounded. Soyeon is the rapper, leader and lead composer of the song btw. When she presented the song to the other members, she had a ppt ready lmao and all her ideas were incorporated in the MV and the final performance of the song in Queendom, the show which she composed the song for. I think to fully understand the MV and song's meaning, a background info on Queendom is needed. It's a survival show where 6 girl groups groups competed in 3 preliminary rounds to gain points for the final 4th round where they will release a song each and the "crown" goes to the group with the most points. G-Idle is the youngest group to participate hence the imagery and story behind the song and the music video. In the first chorus, they were wearing simple dresses and then war clothes and then finally they were wearing queen-ly outfits with the crown. It's a parallelism with them as the youngest participant and riding off to battle and winning the crown. When they sat on the "hyenas" it's to announce that they're "king of the jungle". It was interesting because Soyeon said lions are kings, but she wanted to show that queens are on the same level and capability, therefore Lion instead of saying Lioness which is the correct way to refer to female lions.

Here are their names in order of appearance Minnie, Soojin, Soyeon, Miyeon, Yuqi, and Shuha By the way most kpop songs have at least one rap section the only exception is if the song is a ballad, Soyeon the groups rapper and leader was apart of this competition called produce 101 she didn’t end up winning and competed on unpretty rap star she placed third after that she released two solo songs and then ended up debuting with (G)-idle Also I think you should check out tempo by exo their bridge is really cool and they have this awesome acappella section
