I think the customer is right in the first part except when he/she threaten to complain to the school 😂 in the second part the customer is just being difficult on purpose when the baker has already apologised as they asked her to. There's no point trying to stand on a higher moral ground and keep criticising her when the baker has already receive enough backlash from tiktok. It just seems to me that the customer think they got the public support so they get to do that to the baker lmao. If you think the apology is not sincere, then scolding her will certainly NOT help with the situation.

Yea, I think some the people are legit just overreacting, sure if the person is rude, just go to another bakery/shop, why the need to blow this shit up. The social media mob is fucking cancer. While the baker handled the situation poorly , I feel like what she said at the last part about how publicising her apology would have been insincere , is absolutely true . Why do u need to let hundreds of people to know that you made a apology , isn’t it better to settle it in private rather than let a bunch more people know about this drama

Actually the "vintage bento" means "vintage" ribbon buttercream design and "bento" sized cake packed in bento boxes. For bakers, it's not only between the choice of plant/ animal based butter, but also plant/ animal based cream. They have different taste and consistency, and different mixture affects how the cake react at different temperature. I guess the baker was really afraid of her recipe getting out but that doesn't excuse how she reacts. It's still true that customer service have to deal with all sorts of people and can sometimes feel fed up. Hopefully everyone can be nice and humane.

Even though the baker is being rude, I think she's just not used to the whole business life. Not trying to justify her rudeness but having a business account means you'll get dms from random weirdoes and haters. She probably still doesn't know how to manage this and thus, taking things too personally when another customer is genuinely interested in her baked goods. Not everyone is the same and some people just has to learn the hard way. What's ridiculous to me would be grown adults bickering and insulting someone who is clearly not even in college yet.

Brand and type of butter used IS some thing of a trade secret or sensitive information among bakers. I know some chefs keep it very close to their heart, what butter they used to bake a signature product. So, perhaps at the start, the customer shd have stated the question was due to her allergies. Otherwise, many bakers will perceive it wrongly, that she wants to get sensitive info abt the cake's recipe. I think the customer needs to apologise also for causing this baker so much distress on tiktok.

The customer is a freaking boomer. Allergic to plant based oil? I call bs. All plants have some percentage of ‘plant base oil’. So she has never touched a single vegetable in her life is it? I doubt that the customer is actually sensitive to anything. Where are the receipts? The customer probably just curious if it’s 100% butter and pulled the ‘food sensitivity to plant base oil’ out of her ass. How else is she going to appear as the victim? Honestly, that customer was my customer, I would refuse serving her.

To the baker: A reply like this would suffice “ I don’t not feel comfortable sharing with you the kind of butter I use as i am protective of my recipe. I have been in fb for a long time and while I understand the need for customer service I feel many now adays have gone overboard with all the questions about very specific diets. I get it you will die if you eat anything that has an odd number of electrons, but don't ask my restaurant to tell you if we have specific ingredients, or that it's our job to change to your diet that is the same as .000000001/2 of 1 percent of the population. If you will die so easily just cook for yourself don't bother a corporation with questions about what kind of mushrooms you use while you have a hundred orders going on with a huge line of people screaming at you about how "slow you are" while you are understaffed and working double shifts with not extra pay and no support from your company. I can tell you that I will throw customer service out the window and tell them to f off. I am allergic to red wine, I don't go to every restaurant to see if they have wines with a very specific grape that won't trigger my allergy, I just don't drink red wine you know like an an adult not a crying toddler peeing himself because people don't give my what I want when I want it.

The way the baker reply is indeed rude, but the way the customer ask that question indeed sound like she want to “dig out her recipe”, since the baker has encountered similar situation before. She should ask if her baked goods contain (XXX, the exact thing she is allergic to in butter), instead of “what type of butter”.

I don think the customer did anything wrong tbh. They only asked for the type of butter due to allergen worries. Totally understandable. If the baker didnt want the customer to know, just list down the ingredient in the butter. No need to state the brand of the butter. Or worst case, just politely that as per secrecy, they are not able to share the butter's full list of ingredient (which is stupid btw), but what kind of allergen worry is the customer worried about? etc. Theres plenty of ways to word it. The thing is that the baker is OBVIOUSLY a minor. So im trying not to blame them too harshly, but WHAT IS A MINOR DOING WORKING??? Even if the customer threaten to go complain to the school, tbh, i don see that much issue. Minors shouldnt be working by themselves anyways.

I literally told the student "you dont teach your father how to fuck" and luckily she got the message and just stopped talking no more suggestions from her whatsoever.
