Who were the Yeomen, the Yeomen of England? The Freemen were the Yeomen, the Yeomen of England. Stout were the bows they bore when they went out to war, Stoute their courage for the honour of England (and so on and so on. It's better sung! Composed at a time when not every Englishman was free from serfdom and those who were were proud of it)
