Personally I feel that when you go through so much adversity that gives you the ability to laugh at more stuff because laughing feels better than being sad. Probably why its so common for comedians to be depressed. They are comedians because they are sad not sad because there comedians. Long story short when comedy is a coping mechanism you get good at it from repetition. Just a thought but it makes sense to me.

@@jackyou3145 look, so I'd love my daughter to have an OF just as much the next Conservative, but political philosophy is not a dichotomy of communism vs. capitalism. It's a lot more nuanced than that. Further - you're forgiven on account of you (probably) being a high-schooler.

Teaching her what "invited to the cook out" means was my favorite part. Lol but on a serious note, she is so intelligent, well spoken, & respectful AND funny. It was an honor listening to her story.

*This is my favorite interview of Yeonmi. Don't get me wrong, she's great in other podcasts but it's always so serious & somber. And although I'm not trying to downplay her horrific past, sometimes things can get too dark, and you need to uplift yourself & others. Plus it's make her more human and shows different sides to her - she's not just a victim but someone who's survived and now thriving. This podcast has a good mix of both and also shows she knows how to take a joke*

Didn't many North Korean refugees in South Korea actually called out her story as bullshit, with it having changed multiple times as well, with the first accounts describing her family as pretty well off?
