Ms. Yeonmi Park: you are the most courageous young woman. You are so elegant, eloquent, and completely convincing. North Koreans could not have a better advocate in the United States. I would be so proud of a daughter like you. North Korea throws away substantial talent with songbun and the idea that people can only go down, not up; you are not the only example. I'm distressed that your family was punished because you speak out against the regime. Still you did not stay silent. You are a heroine of the world, a true inspiration and worth a million of someone like me. I mean that sincerely. (Please be careful to protect your personal information. You are needed!) @@YeonmiParkOfficial one of the things that bother me with this channel is that the North Korean regime is labelled as socialist, but they don't even apply the principles... And it's kind of glorifying capitalism. American capitalism causes that kind of misery, but elsewhere in the world. You may have a better life here, but that doesn't mean USA is not deserving of criticism. Critical thinking is not that prevalent even there because they don't question their own system and think they have the best one, just because they're better than litteral hell on earth...

@abi wilson right now, the American left is making up real "double think". Have you read 1984? Things like "anti racism" is really just a fancy way of saying anti white racism, is encouraged. They are trained and training others to disregard what they see and just listen to what they are told. If they believe something one day and it becomes inconvenient, they will automatically forget that they believed it in the first place. (Like illegal aliens being bad) it used to be the right wing companies wanting to hire illegals as cheap labor and the left were against it. It's now embraced by them. There is so much more but I just worked a 20ht shift and woke up with 4hrs of sleep and had to go to work again.

@@joea5183 May I say, you are correct and incorrect in your statement. Many people that form the left have indeed listened and followed, but to insinuate that all of the left is like this is incorrect. Just like the left has people who act as sheep, the right does as well. And honestly I think thats the problem. People no longer attempt to form their own opinions, they just listen and repeat. I'm part of the left and think it's absolutely ridiculous that people encourage discrimination towards white people whilst simultaneously shaming others for being racists. It's entirely hypocritical. Instead of working together, people are taking sides and disregarding facts and reasons. This is a problem for both the right & left. I do hope the US can overcome this chapter and prove itself again. :(

I have learned sos so much about N Korea just from yourself. Thank you for telling us these truths. When the truth is out there there can be hope also. Never stop what you're doing and I hope your channel grows and grows. It fascinates me how with knowledge a closed off person can change so very much and we are never destined to stay the same all our lives. Understanding and the willingness to change is everything we need at the beginnings. For those who refuse to listen and lack the will to change then they are their own worst enemies. I knew before N Korea was under a dictatorship but never knew to such a great extent or that so many words and their meanings were written out of their vocabulary. Critically thinking and learning these tools are so valuable to everybody. There was so much in my own early life that was missing that would of helped me tremendously that I am only learning in more recent times. It is terrible to remain bigoted a whole lifetime and never understanding how we can set each other free just by talking and sharing information as you have done with your channel. You are a hero to so many people.

The feudal system of medieval Europe wasn't anything like this, and doesn't really exist as we know it because depending on time period and location the system would be completely different. The classes in the feudal system were not out-right enforced by law in the same way more modern caste systems are, and mattered less as a minor noble would rather marry into a wealthy farmstead owner with no family name than another minor noble with no land or money. Everything was based around inheritance first and foremost.

As you said in the series before she was constantly supervised, not being able to buy anything except for the designated areas. When she was touring around, the lunch that day was always packed from hotel. The lunch was usually packed and most people couldn’t finish up. She told me there was a silent rule of leaving the leftover at a corner of tour attractions waiting for some locals to collect. Being 11 I was so confused as NK is always portrayed as some great place under Chinese propaganda. But now I watched this video. Pretty sure my mother was in Pyongyang the whole time. I cannot imagine the life in other cities and lower classes😨

This really makes me appreciate the freedoms I have in Australia. Though not quite the level of freedom as most of the US, I'm definitely won't take that for granted hearing how people live in other parts of the world.

To the people wondering about differences between freedom in Australia and America, start by taking a look at the lockdowns in Australia. I don't know much about Australia, but when I heard about the lockdowns specifically in Melbourne I almost couldn't believe it. It definitely wouldn't be accepted in the U.S..

@@garimakilledar5810 Yeah nah I said similar. Our gun laws are somewhat strict depending on the state. The right to defend ourselves is not enshrined in our constitution. At this moment actually I'm getting my gun license and on the government website it literally says self defence in not a genuine reason to own a firearm. Also free speech is not enshrined in our constitution. When gay marriage was passed a few years ago, hate speech laws were written as well. We are definitely doing a lot better than most countries but still could improve.

As I indicated before, I consider your channel MUST SEE TV, and this is the intro headline I gave on my posting on my social media for this, your latest video, which I just shared (and lied of course): A closer look at an advanced example of the ultimate socialist paradise, where "identity politics" is the rule. Thank you so much for risking all, to get this insider info out there. 👍

My uncle fought in the Korean War the year I was born. I am now 66 years old. It frightens me to realize the short amount of time it takes for communism to destroy a country. I fear for my grandchildren. Bless you for bravery.

Yeonmi, one thing i wanted to say is that you dont have to post such frequent videos. Dont misunderstand, i am so glad watching those and i am very lucky to have so much content coming from you as a consumer. But i worry that you might overwork yourself. If thats the case, i would rather see weekly or monthly videos, so that you dont have to pressure yourself making content. I just love you so much that i worry about you getting stressed about the youtube culture which pressures ppl to work harder and harder for the comfort of viewers. Still, i hope to see more of your opinions and stories in the future. Stay safe☺️

Just to say that many conservatives are terrified by the word "socialism" a new boogey man hiding under the bed to scare people. Bernie Sanders not a socialist just to be clear on that point. He is a Democratic Socalist that has a balance between Socialism and Captalism. Socialized health care so every American can have health care not much different from mandatory education or other social programs that benefit the majority of the peopme.

Your videos should be an eye opener for many people who believe they are oppressed under the American system of government. I have traveled around the world thanks to the us army and I have seen how a lot of the world live compared to us. We have poor people in this country but not like poor people in other countries. Our poor check their food stamp balances on their 300 dollar cell phones while there are other countries where the poor have nothing. Keep the videos coming, your perspective is hard to come by since it is very rare to meet anyone from North Korea.
