Jon Anderson has one of the best voices in the history of rock.

Saw Yes 12 times. Only twice did they play this. It was like a religious experience. Seriously.

Waited almost 30 years to see them. First time in 1997 in a small 500-seat club-type venue, when Jon Anderson had the flu. Then the following year I scored front row tickets about 10 feet from Chris Squire, in an outdoor venue (with Alan Parsons as the opening act, but that's another story). Igor Khoroshev on keyboards (who did a great job) and Alan White on drums, and Jon and Steve and Chris. It was the most magical night of my musical life, and an event I will remember to the end of my days. They were touring in support of their new album Open Your Eyes, but early on in the show I guess they looked out over the audience and saw all the old heads out there, they abandoned their set list and played all the old great classics that we all came to hear, including the full versions of Siberian Khatru and Yours Is No Disgrace. My love of Yes started in 1972 with the song Yours Is No Disgrace, and the rest as they say, was history. The die was cast and my fate determined. When I heard Steve hit the opening chords of Yours Is No Disgrace, I knew right then that I was at last fulfilled. It was worth the multi-decade wait.

Best "Magic Mushroom" song in my opinion along with "Summer Madness" (Kool & The Gang).

"Close To The Edge" is hailed by many to be a transcendent piece of work, but I think this track is far better.

@Yes Lyrics Umm, where's the background vox at 2:57 behind 'Coins and crosses' etc? A lot of b/g vox being sung there, quite important imho. I only ask this because I'm a bass player in a Yes tribute band and sing Chris Squire's parts.

@Yes Lyrics Here’s what I got so far, am seeking confirmation of their accuracy: (Coins and crosses…..) Turn round tailor, assaulting all the mornings of the interest shown, Presenting one another to the cord all left, Dying, rediscovered of the door that turned round To close the cover, all the interest shown to change one another, to the sign, Let the time, float your climb (Watching the world, watching all of the world, watching us go by) These are the clearest vox I got from Live at Lugano 2004. Hope this helps. Love your work btw.

Sorry about that, I couldn't make out any words from listening. Thanks for showing me what's actually being sung here.

Beautiful but strange song. Strange because the lyrics mean absolutely nothing! They just put a bunch of words together and backed it with music. Still love it though!

Many bands did it. Cocteau twins did it later. Like... enjoy the music and use your immagination

Yes lyrics are revealed to be even more scrambled, meaningless garbage than I originally thought. The music is great, but jesus, the lyrics…
@johnleeson6946 Жыл бұрын
I agree. It wasn't till "Going for the One" where the lyrics made sense, and even that was a stretch. A friend told me, "The lyrics mean nothing, but they compliment the music perfectly". Well said!

Funnily, I'd thought that, too, but considering the lyrics again, they're saying something, even in their antipathy toward the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

@@MikeMakinney I'd play "The Revealing Science of God" on the jukebox while practicing pool to get my money's worth. A 20 minute song for a buck?! Good deal.

The lyrics are rather meaningless gibberish, a sort of ethereal mumbo jumbo. But they do fit nicely with the beautiful progressive instrumentation. Contrast Yes' nonsense lyrics with some of their lyrics on their first album (1969). Songs like Survivial and Harold Land have great, meaningful, and contemplative lyrics. True, the first album was not as progressive, but it was well done. Survival is one of Yes' best songs.
