(With an introduction by Jon Anderson)
Note that the subtitles may not be the most accurate in the world as I have no idea if he's saying "physically" or "fiscally" at 0:53 (but I just went with physically anyway) and I am not really sure what he's saying at at 1:16 so I kinda went with what it sounded like ("what I say is").

As American teenage fans in the 70s we only had the albums so we always thought they were so serious all the time and we took them seriously. But over the years on KZbin we've gotten to see in our old age that they were comedians as well. Rick's speech at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame comes to mind.

Only Britons, and of a certain age, are likely to cotton on to what Chris is doing. Which is: acting as though he's a panellist, on the BBC Radio 4 panel game: "Just A Minute" - in which the panellists are challenged to speak, for one full minute, without hesitation, deviation or repetition, on any topic that comes up, on the show's cards. The topic here is obviously 'belongings'. That is why he is trying to keep up an uninterrupted stream of speech and asking around as to whether he has spoken for a full minute yet or not - and keeps going, when told 'not'. However, Nicholas Parsons would have cut him off long before, for any number of hesitations, deviations and repetitions that he makes here. The show was an immediate hit as of 1967 and still going to the present day.

Why are there so few videos of these guys? They were musical genuises and nobody thought to have the foresight to get these guys on as much video as possible? Wake up, world. Once all these guys are gone, there's no more opportunity. And there aren't any more geniuses like these guys coming up.

The way people bash current pop music is the same exact thing as older generations bashing on groups like Yes when they first came out. There are many modern musical geniouses, you are just too stuck in your preferences to notice it.
@Civilizashum
@Civilizashum 4 жыл бұрын
“you are just too stuck in your preferences to notice it.” You don’t know anything about anybody else’s thinking. You formed a strawman for your argument, which shows the weakness of it at once. All you did as react, you affirmed nothing but tossed just a vague generalization; if there are geniuses to speak of, you couldn’t be arsed to support your shit with even one.
@thescorpiuslibra1676

@@Civilizashum The Mars Volta/Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Radiohead, Anderson Paak, Thundercat, Circa Survive... theres a lot of modern musical genius around. Also, you seem to misunderstand what a strawman fallacy is. He didnt distort or misrepresent anything the orginal poster said. The op literally said there aren't ANY more genius coming up. Which you would find to be untrue if you have yourself A Venture (see what i did there) out into the GALAXY of music out there. I agree they should've filmed Yes way more though. I fuckin love Chris Squire.

@@neighborbruce You're having a laugh. There's a modicum of reasonable music around if you look hard enough but there are no bands or individuals these days that come anywhere close to the technical brilliance of the best players of the 70's.

Just a bit of twaddle for some, but a lovely chance for me to see Jon and Chris so young and vibrant. I was (and still am) in awe of these two. Thier ability to invent magical musical landscapes touched my heart when I was in my teens. (In the early 70's).
