As a Yes fan almost since their beginning I have concluded that Yes has now morphed into a distinctive genre of its own making. I imagine that in the future their will be numerous bands playing Yes genre music (as is already happening). Quite who 'owns' the name/logo is another discussion and is not one I care to venture into, only perhaps to point out that to my knowledge other genres of music do not have logos. In my view it belongs to Roger Dean anyway! My first impressions of The Quest are that it is distinctly Yes genre music. Being the age I am (62) I could gripe on about all sorts of things but I have to accept that this is 2021 and not 1971 when Yes first grabbed my young attention. Time stands still for no-one. I am glad there are new musicians prepared to play under the banner of the Yes logo. We should let it go and let it roam freely around the universe!

Steve , Alan and Jeff are the elder members but they are still young....you are as young or as old as you think and feel. Younger musicians can learn from Yes....if you are wise like these Yes members, take care of yourself, you can last a ling time and you can still perform and create. These wise musicians have an obligation to their fans to keep productive and keep delivering the goods. These guys are delivering the goods and are in excellent condition. Many great and famous musicians have lived reckless life styles and looked old by the time that they were in their 30s.......many died young and those who are alive today look terrible sound terrible and play terrible....even if they wanted to, they can't produce...they cant deliver the goods to their fans.. But that is not true for Yes......Yes is still there for you people...lets get behind them and support them.. Bravo Yes...we live you..we thank you and you mean the world to us...

@@wodan999 This band has a long history of change, both musically and members in the band. This incarnation is missing the central thread, Chris Squire, who was present in >every< decade until he passed. Merely playing the same notes by other musicians does not capture the spirit of the band … that’s lost forever unless Jon rejoins which, let’s be honest, will never happen now that it has become a Steve Howe vanity project. 😵💫

One of the challenges of listening to a band that has been around for a lifetime, is that you yearn to hear the sounds that inspired you in your youth coming at you new in the present. But from the point of view of the creators of the music there is no going back in time. If they tried to make another close to the edge it would just be regurgitation. Which is about as unappealing as it sounds. And besides, they already did that and they are not in the same place any longer. Steve could play all the frilly guitar parts he wants to...but I'm sure he doesnt want to. Been there done that. So I tried to put aside all my previous likes and dislikes, and just listen. I was very pleased. It has a strong melodic line that is very beautiful. It runs through shifting patterns of tones and holds them together harmoniously. The lyrics are spiritual without being preachy. All in all an excellent work. I look forward to hearing the entire release! Thank you for this song!
