ORDER THE QUEST: yes-band.lnk.t...
Dare To Know is the second single from YES' album The Quest, released 1st October 2021.
Dare to Know
(Steve Howe)
BMG Rights
I’ve got an idea, been on my mind
I’ll share it with you and see what we find
As a matter of fact, things keep on changing
They’re stirring up patterns that keep on rearranging rearranging
Beauty performs shaped by the wind
Sunsets align with discipline
Feeling a sense of urgency
We live with so much uncertainty
We rest on a breath, hang by a limb
Balancing hope to only win
Rituals to celebrate, words to chant await
Things start to happen, they form in a pattern
Seeing their rays of hope, to really help them cope
They mustn’t be ignored, search the lost chord
Jon Davison: vocal duet
Steve Howe: vocal duet, Gibson ES157D and Les Paul Junior, Martin MC28 and 12 string, Fender Stratocaster rhythm part
Geoff Downes: Hammond organ
Billy Sherwood: Spector bass guitar
Alan White: drums
Fame’s Studio Orchestra
Oleg Kondratenko: Conductor

@@wodan999 This band has a long history of change, both musically and members in the band. This incarnation is missing the central thread, Chris Squire, who was present in >every< decade until he passed. Merely playing the same notes by other musicians does not capture the spirit of the band … that’s lost forever unless Jon rejoins which, let’s be honest, will never happen now that it has become a Steve Howe vanity project. 😵‍💫

Steve , Alan and Jeff are the elder members but they are still young....you are as young or as old as you think and feel. Younger musicians can learn from Yes....if you are wise like these Yes members, take care of yourself, you can last a ling time and you can still perform and create. These wise musicians have an obligation to their fans to keep productive and keep delivering the goods. These guys are delivering the goods and are in excellent condition. Many great and famous musicians have lived reckless life styles and looked old by the time that they were in their 30s.......many died young and those who are alive today look terrible sound terrible and play terrible....even if they wanted to, they can't produce...they cant deliver the goods to their fans.. But that is not true for Yes......Yes is still there for you people...lets get behind them and support them.. Bravo Yes...we live you..we thank you and you mean the world to us...

Steve Howe sounds Jan Akkermanish in the beginning. It's like Focus melts into Yes Magnification era. The last (final?) Yes album with Jon Anderson on vocals. This track is probably better than the Heaven & Earth album contents. Plus a bit of pre "And through the rhythm of moving slowly" Tales era Yes.

Had that immediate impression also, like something left over from YesSymphonic. The initial chord progression also reminds me of Rick’s Tharsis Tholus off of The Red Planet, which I did not like at first but grew on me. This also could grow on me. I will buy this album when it’s released. I also like the new kaleidoscopic logo effect, it’s fresh like the two tracks I’ve heard, so far.

@josie1776
@josie1776 3 жыл бұрын
@@stikcler , you are right. In 'Ice Bridge', a song more upbeat than 'Dare To Know', this problem is even more noticeable. This mix direction they took for this album follows the tendencies of the industry (they hide bass frequencies because modern sound systems have "bass boost" as standard, so, if bass is too in front, it can make the bass frequencies too loud when you are listening to the record). I don't know if Chris used to confront this tendency (which is not new) when the albums were in the mix process, or the sound engineers used to discard the tendency automatically for previously knowing Chris' preferences (or his reluctance against the novelties).

Amazing how Steve still preserves that same classic 1970s guitar tone. Honestly feels like this song is a relic from the past

Yes, Especially when that steel guitar sound erupts, sounding a lot like it did on the Tales From Topographic Oceans album.

Great observation! The drum sound is unnatural, but it did not prevent me from enjoying the composition.

I agree. As soon as the song started, I was pulled back into the 70's when I first discovered their wonderful sound!

While I'm not that big of a fan of Jon Davison the great thing about Yes is that they keep changing between musical output and members of the band. Even if you like some, don't like some Yes keeps putting out music.

This sounds like an "missing link" between the albums "Time" and "Love Is" by Howe

After listening to this song many times I have to admit that it is mind transcending. The sheer beauty of it is glorious and moving. As with most of YES creations I'm waiting for the entire picture to be unveiled with the colors of the other tracks surrounding Dare To Know and The Ice Bridge. Thanks guy's (Yes), for keeping alive the Perpetual Change of the Mind Drive...which for me is hope.

Another winning creation. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest. There are so many folks that don't seem to want to give YES a chance to continue with the loss of some of the older members. Other bands have changed their "sound" over the years...and are still loved by their fans. I'm a YES fan...... these two offerings will definitely be a part of my music library when they are released....along with the rest of the album if it follows suit. Play on YES! Shine that light.

Preach! So tired the of bashers and naysayers. Rock critics always hated Yes, but now it seems like no one hates Yes more than those who claim to be their "fans". Sick of it. The 2 new songs we've gotten so far are terrific.
