I agree completely. I like that she is on point all the time. She gets right to the task at hand, with lots of detail. Some instructors start by talking and talking about nothing to do with the project. Now I like the bunnies and demos of products used. Angie you ROCK.

Knapp joinery was primarily used 1870-1900. I found an ugly neon green wash stand in a small antique store with this joinery. Under layers and layers of paint was a lovely washstand/soon to be my bathroom vanity. Your piece came out lovely! You honor the age of the piece with your talents. Not museum quality you say, but the kind of piece my ancestors would have had. The glazing made it perfect. Wonderful job!

I had never heard of, or seen, the peg/scallop joinery before. How very unique, and yet I can't begin to imagine how difficult it must have been to create prior to modern power tools. You gave this piece a major facelift and a chance at another life. Well done!! 👏👏👏
@BrooksMoses2 жыл бұрын
That joinery was created with circa-late-1800s power tools that were built specifically for the purpose of making it -- and it was specifically designed to be easy to do with power tools, unlike dovetails that weren't doable with power tools until we got to the era of modern routers. The "peg" side was made with a rotary plug cutter (or a set of them), and the scallops were made with a special shaping cutter. It was as simple as putting the wood into the machine and pulling a few levers. It's kind of rare, because only a large furniture shop would have bought the machine to do it, and once it became possible to do dovetails efficiently with power tools, it fell out of fashion.

Another amazing transformation. Something I tell people all the time who have old furniture they want to sell: just because something is old does not mean it was ever in good taste or worthy of preservation as an antique. Hi Angie, your channel found me a few weeks ago…I love what you are doing! Your tenacity, patience, and vision are just a few of your awesome qualities. Many many moons ago I used to find pieces which had seen better days… and, give them new life. It was very time consuming yet very rewarding🌟 My projects were for personal/ family used… I so wish there had been an opportunity to get help from someone like you. I learnt by my mistakes, but I persisted. The fun thing was, I had 2 boys who were curious to learn. So I set them up with a scroll saw and poplar plywood or pine. They would choose outlines and work on small projects. We all learned together. Now, both in their early 50’s they enjoy doing work needed in their homes, and have also taught their children. You are a great teacher, very organized and thoughtful. Your presentation is inspiring. Some people might think … it’s easy … but most of us know the steps one must take to have a good outcome!!! You are an artist. You are giving new life…teaching each of us to see the value and appreciate what we have! 🎉 im grateful your channel found me ! 🙏🌻🍁🍂🧡✨🌟

Tbh, I used to be staunchly anti-paint before I started watching your videos. I'd seen so many nice-looking pieces painted over to look "modern" because the type of wood or finish wasn't considered "in." But I've loved all of your painted pieces!! You put so much thought and care into the final look of every piece, the results are always delightful!! It's really made me view painting as a neutral option now!

I definitely am choosy about what I do paint and I’m kind of a “to each their own” person but I have an absolute love for the beauty of many woods and try to preserve it where I can. Pine is always one exception for me, especially modern pine. Some of the antique old growth pine is stunning though. But point being, I restore where I can or where I see fit, and have no issues with adding some painted pieces or sections of pieces in here and there. :-) My main goal is keeping things “alive” rather than being tossed, so sometimes paint helps with that mission. ❤️❤️ Thanks for your kind words :-)

I have a 1950's blonde set of bedroom furniture. It has seen lots of abuse and needs a revival. Your work makes me want to tackle it then I remember how much work reviving furniture can be. I LOVE your transformations and videos. I admit that I'm addicted.

It can be an undertaking! Best of luck if you do decide to do it. 😊 Thanks for watching and I won't tell anyone about your addiction. 😉
