Totally agree. Wakeman and Howe have an awesome solo-war at the end and the rest of the band ties it in perfectly to end the song. Wonderful live performance.

That shirt is brilliant. Roger Dean is the artist who designed the iconic logo and art for the band, instantly recognizable to all true music aficionados. Hand wash gently in warm water...hahaha..

This is such an under appreciated cut from this otherworldly album. In fact, this maybe my favorite Yes song. Everybody shines, but Wakeman's keys, and Bruford's stick work are impeccable.

Me too. I think this is one of their best. Not well known as far as UToob. I rank it with Siberian Khatru which I loved more when Yessongs came out. So intricate, yet, bombastic.

Your face says it all... Back in the 80's I discovered Yes through "Owner of a Lonely Heart" the 1st big hit from 90125 and then worked my way back through their awesome catalogue. Thanks for taking us along on your musical journey.

From 73 through 04 I've seen Yes 5 times, and each show was jaw dropping. Once you see some live footage you'll notice Chris Squire and Steve Howe also sing backup. I enjoy your show! It's always a kick to see a new generation's reaction after discovering this amazing music from long ago for the first time. It's almost like reliving it myself. Peace

First time? This along with Long Distance Runaround were my first favorites from Fragile. It’s the middle harmonies that did it ❤ It’s mostly Jon and Chris doing harmonies. Chris could sing in an even higher resister to Jon; here, Steve adds his voice too. Jon and Chris have similar voices. Pure magic 🎉

Great song and one of their best albums!Great shirt! I’ve got a couple of my own from YES concerts. The first one I bought outside of Madison Square Garden back in 1979. I found out later when I went to put it on that it had a burnt out part. The guy must have been smoking weed and accidentally burned it while high!Chris mostly sings backup harmonies perfectly with Jon. Steve also does some backup singing. You need to react to Perpetual Change. You will freak out how much you’ll love it!

It is amazing just how every song of theirs is just an amazing song. Thanks for doing these YES reactions because us old YES fans love to see just how a newbie will react so you won't find a larger group of followers. Keep them coming. If you dare a Live performance I recommend "Yours is no Disgrace" there's even a videoed performance off YESSONGS. Be carful though some are fan made and are just showing live concert but not the actual thing being played. Thats's why I recommended "Yours is no Disgrace" it is a true video plus it really shows off their stage energy in their prime.

Those 3 albums back to back: Yes, Fragile, Close to the Edge.....and later Relayer, stand head and shoulders above anything else they ever did. Bass player Chris Squire's one and only solo album (with original Yes drummer Bruford) is a classic too.

Yes did a version of Simon and Garfunkel's "America" that came out shortly after Fragile. Both are great songs but Yes does their own take on the song and it's one of my favorites. Had to rewatch your reaction, much success to you and your channel. 😊

What I love about "Relayer" is that Patrick Moraz steps in on keys, and he isn't treated as a Wakeman replacement. He's allowed to MAKE HIS MARK! His jazz-fusion stylings are ALL OVER that album. It's a stunning work! Beethoven-level genius from all the musicians involved.

I am so sorry about your friend. We lose parents, grandparents, relatives, aquaintences, coworkers, in our lives, especially difficult when we're young, but losing a friend is entirely different. I know. One of my best friends, my first friend to die (he was 52, that's nothing, my husband was 48)- well, his wife, a year later, was to die from a horrific suicide, so awfully horrible and traumatic. Music, their favorite pastime, YES, was particularly poignant and meaningful. A way to remember them by - and was a way to keep their spirits close to me, was through music. Although this YES song is a tragic one, it's still powerful. I hope you explore more YES songs in the future. Their music is timeless and spiritual. BTW, this song, or should I say Symphony, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, live, with Rick Wakeman on keyboards, is mind blowing. RIP to your friend.😢😢

SSOTS is one of my favorite songs by my favorite group, Yes. Such a terrific song! And, great reaction, BTW ...however, after Gates of Delirium, don't think there are no more mountains to climb, when it comes to Yes music. You have merely scratched the surface of their great songs. Sure, you've reacted to most of their well-known songs, tho South Side of the Sky is a deeper cut, but there are even more songs that are well-known, such as "Wondrous Stories," which is one of the most beautiful songs you'll ever hear, and beloved by fans. Or, from the same album as Gates..., "Sound Chaser," which is one of the most challenging, yet sonically satisfying, songs in all of Prog. It's wild! Or, their epic "Mind Drive," from 2001, much later in the band's career. Or, their hits from the '80s, including their #1 hit, but it's caused some contention among fans as to whether it really sounds like Yes, what with the New Wave influence. The song did help define the '80s, so "Owner of A Lonely Heart" does have its place, but I like other songs on the album better, like "Changes." Or, from their next album "Rhythm of Love." They had minor hits in the '90s even. And then, in 2001, they created an incredible album, backed by an orchestra, and virtually any song on that album is terrific, but "Magnification" might be the highlight. Anyway, live reactions are great, but don't forget that Yes still has more to give, from 23 albums ...so far. ❤✌

Howe: ""Fragile" ventured to be even more… I don’t know what that word is, kind of the sound had to be… have something minimal about it even though it was quite busy ... at that time we were really good at that. And, obviously, Bill being in the group was an absolute gem ... There were tracks that had parts where I wasn’t playing, like on “South Side of the Sky,” so I could sit there and go, “Oh, yeah. That sounds nice.” There was a good sense of teamwork ... I think it took “Fragile” to really widen the horizon."

This song was only my 3rd favorite initially after Roundabout & Heart Of The Sunrise but now I rank it tied with HOTS for 2nd place. It was built around a really unorthodox, experimental riff but that didn't stop them from turning it melodic in typical YES fashion. Wakeman's piano was supremely satisfying but what really stands out to me was Bruford's experimental jazz-influenced drumming throughout it, one of his best in the YES catalog.

You would probably love the live performance of this song from 2004 at Tsongas. The harmonies - Jon, Chris, and Steve - are great and Rick and Steve do a great back and forth keyboard - guitar solo thing at the end. It's a real party! This was on Yes's 35th Anniversary Tour which, sadly, was the last time the full "classic" lineup played together. It's on KZbin here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5yvhHuPdtGXbassi=NH2FAWEgP1SK1I9N
