Watching your pineapple plant bear fruit is a rewarding experience, but sometimes, a little nudge in the right direction can help speed up the process. Even when the perfect conditions are in place, fruiting is still slow; therefore its time to consider a natural aid to speed up the process.
For an extra boost, consider using calcium carbide. Choose a mature pineapple plant for this process, as they are more likely to produce larger pineapples. Apply calcium carbide carefully, as it produces acetylene gas, a natural flowering inducer, when in contact with water or humidity. By following these steps, you can give your pineapple plant the gentle nudge it needs to produce those sweet, tropical treasures. Enjoy the fruits of your labor! Yes, you force a pineapple plant to produce fruit

Here is my experience from a few years ago.,... I grew a pineapple in a pot in New Jersey! Whole process took 2.5 years. How to do it: Buy a pineapple with a healthy 'green' top in EARLY spring, ...Twist off the top. Pick the bottom leaves off about 1.5 inches, let it dry for a day, set it into a jar of water so the bottom of the "core" is submerged an inch, change water regularly. Wait for roots to develop. After they do, pot it up in well-draining soil. I used a 3/4 gallon nursery pot ( .75 gallon). During this time, some of the greenery on top may die. Don't worry it will regrow. After several weeks, put it outside in a shady spot. Over time, gradually adapt it to a spot that gets some sun. Remember to water it only after the surface has been dry a few days. Let it stay outside all summer. Before frost hits in fall, bring it back inside for winter. Can be grown under LED shoplight or near bright window. Next spring put it back outside, At this point it will become quite wide, the following fall, bring back inside. It was so big that I needed to trim the leaves back 1/3. Within months, the pineapple began to form in the center (in Dec) and ripened the following August, so the fruit took 9 months from beginning to end. Once it started to finally ripe, it went from green to yellow in just one week. It was very sweet, sweeter than store bought ones. And sweet without any acidity. It did not get as big as store-bought.... maybe only 3/4 as big. I think being outside in the sun over two summers is what was needed to trigger it to fruit without assistance.
