I can do a double pirouette fine and sometimes when I don't mean to, I can do a triple. But more times than not, I end up falling out of my turns backwards. I don't know how to fix my balance. All these girls are doing 5 or 6 pirouttes and I have watched numerous amounts of videos and taken class after class to get me no where. I've been dancing for 13 years and I can do a minimal amount. I feel like I should be farther than where I am, but I just genuinely suck at turning.

Try keeping your core super tight and leaning forward. You might also be turning to slowly at the end and that might cause the falling at the ene

@@justangel2714 I have to perform a triple for the recital (if it happens) this year for contemporary. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't. I really have absolutely no idea what the difference is between getting it and not. I've just noticed sometimes I will lean, so I try to hold my core tighter. I also tend to slide my foot down and I get scared so i don't finish the pirouettes. I think it might also have to do with nerves, so I just have to practice, practice. To try and see what i was doing wrong, I tried to video myself. Didn't work though lol because for some reason that made me nervous, but it could work for others I'm sure.

1. Don’t panic.Breathe and say your name aloud if it helps 2. Be patient. Breaker the pirouette down and remember your body placement. 3. Be consistent, practice everyday. Get good momentum 4. Don’t be afraid of asking for help. (Or search up ways to help) 5. Practice correctly.

Have you got any tips for pirouettes on stage when you can't find a spot with the lights in your eyes?

I can't seem to learn how to spot, everytime I tell myself to or attempt to spot, I fail 🤷🏻♀️ Do you adress this in the pirouette masterclass?
@mimimi40985 жыл бұрын
something that really helped me when I was a beginner , was turning off all the lights, and lighting a candle then setting is on a table, or something about that height. then, don't do any fancy relives or anything, but just stare at the candle, and start spinning! slowly at first, then faster, and don't lose sight of the candle. remember to do it on both sides!! you can do it!
@yiskak63414 жыл бұрын
a tip that my teacher gave me that made a HUGE difference is that you need to remember to actually FOCUS on whatever you're spotting. You can't just look at it and then turn away, you have to try your best to actually keep your eyes in focus and looking at the thing clearly. I'm horrible at turns but this helped me heaps! ❤️

Try looking higher, a few inches, than your eyeline. It keeps your whole spine elongated

I have been turning for about 3 years now and I still sometimes forget to spot and something that really helps is to look at any little item and focus on that until you cant keep your neck in that position anymore and just look back for one second and look at that item again, it gets a bit harder as you learn doubles and triples but it just takes time a courage trust me, I struggled a lot with spotting, hope this helped!!

it’s just my balance really. i absolutely suck at balancing, which really is key is dance, but i have been doing exercises for years and i’ve barely improved.
@kellerensnyder45303 жыл бұрын
Best thing anyone said to me for balance: 1) take some time to find where your center is, and then aim for that spot every single time you releve, 2) use your arms to your advantage. If you're having difficulty maintaining your balance, let your arms help you find and keep your balance. 3) Just do a metric crap ton of calf raises, because the stronger your ankles are, the better your balance will be. My mom put me in ballet super young because I was born blind in one eye, and my balance was *terrible.* I fell in love with it and never stopped. Hope this helps! :)

Hello Alessia!! Thank you for your wonderful advice on turns, balance is such a difficult topic!! I was wondering if you would consider doing a video for waist and back stretching and flexibility. You have helped me enormously with my middle split, you are wonderful at this. I sometimes do bridges and things to help me go lower and bend my spine more, but I can't seem to get it right, so....

The main reason you dont master your turns is because you turn like a left-handed. The leg that stays on the air is the on that will give you balance. For some reason most of ballet dancers turn as left handed people (clockwise). If you watch figue skating you will notice that most skatera turn anti-clickwise bacause they are right-handed. Is resume: the leg that stays IN THE AIR is the one that gives you balance, not the one that is on the floor. So, if you dont master you turns, is because of the same reason you dont master to write with your left hand. Just try the oposite direction.
