I am lying awake at 4 in the morning and KZbin just now graced me with this video, better late than never! I can’t wait to spend the day trying in vain to play this with even half of the musicianship as your performance . From a lover of the Beatles and jazz, thank you!

Holy cow that Em11 to A+7b9 is amazing. BTW, I usually see it notated as A+7 and not A7+ for augmented 7th chords.
@soundole27019 жыл бұрын
Steven Morris It certainly adds some extra spice to a ii-V, doesn't it? My favourite part is the sustained top F at 1:50 - you can treat it like an inverted pedal and it's a nice little replication of jazz orchestra scoring. My vote for that chord symbol would be to call it a 7#5b9 - since those added harmonies are still a modification of the Dom 7 sonority rather than an augmented triad - but I know this is pickly opinionated territory!

Kudos for the Video clip! Forgive me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you tried - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (just google it)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning piano fast minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate at last got astronomical success with it.

Congratulations! I must admit playing jazz might be incredibly difficult, so great efforts - no question. Although I don't know... would be interesting to understand how is it possible for the brain to like and not to like different kinds of music. For jazz the maximum I can say, is "pleasant' :) in contrast to your recent Bach fugue which is commented as "genial' :)
@soundole27019 жыл бұрын
+Zene I know what you mean mate, it's not a genre I'm particularly at home in. Many jazz players I know wouldn't call this jazz because it's written out!

Hey, great rendition of Yesterday. As someone who is becoming more interested in Jazz piano, could you recommend a book or course to me that could make me more fluent in jazz piano? Thank you!
@soundole27017 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! I may not be the best person to ask (the best advice is always going to be: find a good teacher) but you may want to look into some of the Aebersold books (jazzbooks.com) which give an introduction to piano comping strategies and typical voicings. Good luck!

@soundole27018 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I don't upload sheets for these sorts of publications, but you can get hold of it from amazon: it's from a collection called 'The Beatles for Jazz Piano'.
There's some pretty full on voicings, for sure. But hey, that's what pedalling is for :)

Toooo much colour man, be careful not to oversaturate the function by laying the harmony to close together. There is a reason why 9's 11's and 13's are defined as being an octave up.
@jampishon7 жыл бұрын
It's good but some accords are not suitable, for example 0:37 G13 to g and then g1>5>66> ? , baad ps. it's even forbidden
@soundole27017 жыл бұрын
Forbidden by what rule systems? I don't think there are many jazz musicians that would be upset by that progression, and it's got some pretty satisfying inner voice-leading!
@LeeJordanMusic7 жыл бұрын
I didn't know the rule "forbidden" even existed in the jazz community XD
@jampishon7 жыл бұрын
1) accord is described as Gb7, but there is even no 7, only 1> 3 5> 6 6> 9 (making V-I cadence), so in turn II> 6 6> would be described as V 3 3> what's always forbidden in any tonal systems. (even if not, 6 and 6> is strange also) 2) by adding some jazz cords to the already known music part we want to spice a bit a melody but not to change the question-answer cadences, it always brings down the notes in any music tournaments
