The song and video touched my heart..My husband, Lou Puckett, deployed to Vietnam in 1970..He served with the 9th infantry division (mech) as a combat medic..Awarded the Purple Heart in Country..Passed away in 2012..It doesn’t hurt any less, 11 years later. RIP Lou Puckett 06/29/1948-11/19/2012.♥️

@@virginiapuckett628 As a Veteran serving in Vietnam, we had a saying over there that was engraved on our Zippo lighters, written on our flak jackets, helmet covers and said to one another, usually after an action fire fight. To sum up, it said all Vietnam War Veterans had already spent their time with Satan and would go straight to Heaven. Sacrilegious thinking but sometimes we were in a spot unlike we'd ever been in before. I reference this back story to my long held thoughts. Your beloved husband is now in Heaven's beautiful land for we Vets of that place we served in so long ago. A never ending "stand down" where there is no danger, anxieties, and feelings of foreboding. The American Cavalry Troopers of the 19th century called the place "Fiddler's Well." Indeed Confederate General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson's last words's were, "Let us go across the stream to lay on the grass in thr shade of the trees." I believe you may take solace in the knowledge your husband awaits you in a wonderful place and is very comfortable. May he RIP.

Very pleasant, warm and cherished memories. I recall these gatherings of conviviality and happiness. There's a young lady reminiscent of my young bride of less than one year before I left for Vietnam with the Marines. Bless her. I came back a changed man, but fulfilled my marriage vows. She passed on due to a stroke but our sole child, a son has flourished into a fine Christian man. I've been fortunate to this point to have lived a full life. For this I give love and full credit to God.

If I could save time in a bottle...look back and we recall the people, the times we felt God's goodness, love and beauty in the songs, joy, warmth, love, smells and just moments. Make every moment, every day and every person become a wonderful memory in the future. Thank You Lord above.

You're so lucky to have this memory of friends and loved ones. Most folk will just have b&w stills. I hope it brings you much pleasure 👍😃.

I saw the original. It was wonderful and so is this. Roy Clark and this song are minor miracles. Thank you so much for this. I was just looking across the room at the pictures of my parents on the ledge -- gone since 2007 -- and suddenly missed them terribly in my heart -- right before this came up. We cannot recall even 1% of what happened in our lives, what we saw and heard, what we said and what people said to us -- even most of the most important things are incomplete recollections. We chase our own past with butterfly nets, desperate to remember and recapture the stream but never able to do it. It is always out of reach. You were able to preserve a little bit here. Congratulations. 1/12/23.

Thank you for this video and song. It makes me think that this generation you captured in this marvelous video, was the last to be raised by a stay at home mom...after Viet Nam the push to have moms work was as intense as those who worked during WWII war effort...(Aaron Russo talked about it as intentional to break up families that led to children who developed manipulation or sarcasm we see in youth today, some of them of course not all but some ). The gentle polite interchange of genuine joy that we see in this video shows a surety of who the youth were in that era...a secure people who had a pace of life that had respect and not urgency.... (not realizing that the Viet Nam experience was going to shake us all up). I am a bit younger but your smiles in this video remind me of when people were more secure than the youth are now these days... I thank you.

I like to know where this place filmed Was recorded,it reminds me so much,of a place in South America, called uraguay,I lived there for many years , but most the people I know are long gone ,this video really helps me to be emotionally positive,as I look at the young ones ,and smiles on their faces ,and that sense of security in the future, maybe I am wrong,I believe we young were allowed to dream then,,unlike the youth of today.

When You Are Old BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
