Nice tractor, I purchased a old MF165 a couple months ago, It was in pretty decent condition when purchased, Just now getting around to put it to work. Did some body paint, repaired the rusted out tool box & minor stuff but hadn’t any mechanical issues until last week when it died, starved for fuel, obvious choice was to replace the fuel filters, and when checked the air cleaner it was severely stopped up surprisingly the engine could get any air, Found the 1st fuel filter & glass bowl filled with rust… from the tank, 2nd filter was remarkably clean - guess the 1st had caught much of the trash, worked my way upstream with the fuel lines, struggling to get fuel up to the next point, the fuel lines still had rust and seemed to be bonded, even when unscrewed, couldn’t pull them loose without concern of damage, Anyway I finally got the fuel to the fuel pump and the tractor fired up, without me having to crack open the injection lines, I used the tractor a couple hours since, seemed like it was running perfectly, then cut out again, The sentiment glass bowl looks pretty clear now & I have fuel up to the 2nd filter, I will check the fuel pump tomorrow in the daylight, I’d suspect debris/rust in the lines making it way through & clogging up the system. I will mostly have to replace the tank to avoid further issues from the rust getting into the fuel system.

Gomoron från Oregon! För två år sedan kåpte jag en lite gård norr om Hudiksvall. I visited Sweden the first time in 1971, made it back the first time in 2011, and farm in 2021. I worked in Sweden in the lumber industry for about a year in 2019 and got to see a whole lot of Southern Sweden in my travels every month. I really enjoyed your video. I am a forester by training, but my real profession for over 50 years has been as a log builder and carpenter. All of this in volved equipment which means I often had to be my own mechanic. I must say that you have better luck bleeding a Perkins injection system than I do! of course, you have a fortunate advantage with the gravity fuel feed to the pump. I have a teleskopiklastare with a Perkins 4-236 NA motor. The poor old thing was in need of serious love when I bought it and last night was when I decided to pull the head off the motor, do a valve job, install a new gasket, rebuild the injectors and then see if the injection pump needs to be rebuilt. My sense is that the old 4-236 motors are about one of the most bulletproof motors ever built. About the only thing better are the B18's and B20's in my Amazons. Återigen, jag uppskatter din video och jag har också prenummerat. Mycket bra jobbat!

I drove a similar unmodified and new 165 when I worked on a farm in 1967. It was a good powerful tractor in it’s day. Like yours it had no cab and no safety cage in those days. Nice work on the fuel pump which were often a trouble to bleed.

Plus with Propane Stove , Heater, Hot Water tank plus Cold water setup , Sink and gas motor got lazy plus transmission so updated! I used to work at a Massey Fergusson dealership in the stores and supplied many parts for 165’s. They were great tractors but be careful if you ever put a muck filler bucket on the front. The filler tends to pick the front wheels up and if they come down quickly onto a hard surface the front stub axles can snap. It’s the only weakness I really know of… you have a very tidy example of the type👍

I’m just about to do the same on a Bedford 500 engine that’s in my Bedford VAL coach. Interestingly…. My CAV pump has a ‘tell tale’ hole in the bottom of the triangular face plate. This is so that you don’t fill the sump up with diesel and knacker your engine without knowing it. Mine is absolutely pissing out diesel out of this small hole - i thought the pump had failed so badly that it would need replacing but no - its just this drain hole and the fact that the seal has probably turned to stone! - great walk though anyway its given me great confidence to tackle it myself

Also check at the sediment boowl that there are no little air bubbbles being sucked in.... the seal on the line from the tank to the pump.. the one connection that bolts into the pump itself..can develop wear...and air bubbles are no use in a diesel injection system... unscrew the connection and replace the seal there with an O ring..... when you use the priming lever now there will be no bubbles.. solid fuel to push through to bleed everything else...

Holy smokes I cant believe how fast that tractor is. Aesome job on the turbo charger, and modded gearbox. I have an old Massy MF35, it has the loader attachment, and a fork life on the back which mainly carries my 1500 pound counter weight. I put skidder chains on it for added traction. It currently sits in the middle of my driveway as it suddenly quit. I eliminated everything down to the metering valve on the injection pump. So tomorrow mornnig ill get out there and have a look before we go back into -25C

G’day from far off Tasmania! I had one of the seals blew on the fuel pump on my Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4 truck 5 weeks ago, here in Tasmania. I had to send the pump to Sydney (about 2000km away) to swap ( I get someone’s refurbished unit, and mine gets refurbished for some other sucker). The replacement arrived back last week, we put it on, and you guessed it, they didn’t fix it!!! It runs great at idle, but as soon as you get it to 2000RPM, it blows black soot, and shakes the whole truck (6 tons). Now waiting on another replacement - which they say is being expedited. Great to see you get your job done well in a short period of time.
