Hi Richard, I can tell you much about this tractors, because I have 2 of this tractors myself, one 1960 and one 1961, the 1961 is in good shape, I restored this and the trailer to this tractor for many years ago, and the 1960 is not in same good shape. This tractor is a Moto-Standard U-9, the U stand for Universal and 9 stand for 9horsepower, and this tractors was made with 2stroke engine or MAG 4stroke engine, both of my tractors have MAG 4stroke engine, and this tractors was not made in Norway, they was made in west-germany, in Bübingen-Saar (Saarland), and the MAG 4stroke engine is made in Switzerland. It was seld many of this tractors in Norway, and many workshops in Norway make equipment to this tractors, like trailer, caterpillar-track, winch, plough, harrow and much more, and the caterpillar-track on your tractor is maybe made in Voss in Norway, a workshop in Voss make caterpillar-track and winch(Vossavinsjen) to this tractors. Importer and dealer in Norway was LOG, but also Felleskjøpet in Norway sell this tractors, but today it´s nearly impossible to buy new parts for this tractors.

This motor was made in Switzerland. The brand name is MAG which means Motosacoche Acacias Genève. This motors were used mainly in agriculture machine specially for use in mountain areas for cutting gras or for water pumps.. They also produced motors for motorbikes and had their own brand of motorbikes.

Great fun video! I worked at a saw mill in N. California, and I worked on the heavy equipment there. They had a 100 foot crawler crane(P&H) that broke a track one day, and the operator crawled off and into the mud on that side. That one track was incredibly heavy, and we had to use a cat 320 excavator to lift it back onto the rollers, then a come-along and sledge hammer to get the new pin back in. Each plate had to be over 500 pounds(227 kg). We also had to build a large platform under the counterweight out of timbers, topped with 1" steel plate, two 50 ton hydraulic jacks, and tip the crane up just high enough to drag that track back under it. A week later, it blew that old engine. Good times! The boss found one online at a ship yard. It came out of an old military ship, was well maintained and ran great. It took 3 of us about 5 days to replace it.
@nerd1000ify2 жыл бұрын
My grandfather worked for Queensland Main Roads. Once one of their Caterpillar D9s threw a track. The track got bound up in the running gear and jammed the pins between the links so badly they had to use dynamite to split the track and remove it!

Love your channel. Just a thought. Keep pull rope to your arm length so it always leaves the crank. Too long and murphy's law operates. Loose rope always coils onto something and could break your arm or finger if it is the pulley, especially with a kickback. Stay safe.

@@ThorAlexandre interesting! We had a few companies that made various attachments here in the US, but nothing like this to my knowledge. Recently the walk-behind tractors are gaining popularity again, just a few years ago you couldn't even give them away. Use a drop or 3 of Liquid Dish Detergent, put it on your finger and smear it around the inside of the grip , just a little bit will do and when it drys it bonds well and wont "Glue" it in place .. also makes it easier to remove later as you only have to get some water down in it and soak for a few and off it will come .
