Yesudas marked an undesirable event in Malayalam film music field. Goodbye to grand majestic genuine male voice. Welcome effeminate sareeram sung in ‘kallathonda’. Only the technological development in amolification could make such voices audible and presentable. Carnatic afficianados have a funny name for such singers. ‘Moolipattu vidvans’. More worrying is that most of the emerging male voices are yesudas klones. How one misses the majestic voices of Kamukara Udayabhanu AM Raja and others.
