I just got the panorama helmet, and I am thrilled that I can now see what I am welding. However, will the two side panels cause longterm retinal and corneal problems with the arc?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
I can't answer your question as I am not an eye doctor. My understanding is the side panels do provide UV and IR protection even though they don't darken with the arc activation. I've been using this hood for a couple of years now and I have never had a situation where I look directly at the welding arc through the side panels so I'm guessing that there is no issues using a hood like this for longterm use.

what work best? Control inside or Ouside? I switch between plasma and welder all the time. Sound like outside is probably better?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10

What works best would be a personal preference I think. I’m fine with either myself.

@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 The one with control inside. are you able to flip from cut to weld with the helmet on top of your head? or you have to take the helmet out of you head to flip the switch?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Жыл бұрын
The one with the controls in the inside I have to remove from my head to change from weld to cut. But with some practice you might be able to switch the one with the controls on the inside with it on your head.

Great vid. 1/1/1/1 does provide better Optical Quality than 1/1/1/2. I have a YW helmet that provides the former quality and its clearer than another helmet I have with 1/1/1/2.

I just purchased the green 180 degree helmet for my son and just realized the side windows don't auto darken. Will this be safe for my 14 year old son? He is learning welding in school and has been excited. I just want to make sure he is safe. Thanks.

I've been using that same helmet for about six months now and I haven't experienced any issues with it. It's a nice welding helmet IMO.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10

I think the fancier version with the auto darkening sides is mostly a personal preference thing. I suppose if you were in a shop side by side with a lot of other people welding, having the auto-darkening sides would maybe be an advantage. Personally I'm always welding by myself in my shop so I don't see much difference between the two in my situation. Wishing your son the best in his welding ventures and Happy Hollidays to you and your family!

But what about grind mode, does it have a clear lens for grinding? Clear lens for grinding is a must for me, clear without tint so I can see what I'm grinding....
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 3 жыл бұрын
If you check out the video at 7:58 you can see what it would look like in grind mode just before I start welding. I don't know if that is clear enough for what you are wanting or not but I think it's pretty clear. Hope this helps you out.

I ended up going back to HF and bought the Vulcan Arc Safe on sale. I decided to try it first after seeing several good reviews on it. The biggest deal for me was the headgear adjustment and tensioner. I hated having to put the hood all the way up to get it to stay in place. The reviews I saw showed the Arc Safe next to the Lincoln Viking and the hoods and headgear are identical. The passive mode on the the Arc Safe in crystal clear compared to the Yeswelder I have like your original. Amazing difference actually. I can see clearly even when my light is crappy. Basically if I can see what I’m welding with my naked eye clearly, I can see just as clearly in passive mode. The hood is a bit slimmer than the Yeswelder but still provides total protection. I’m happy. I hope your new Yeswelder helmet works out!

It sounds like you have found what works for you and you're happy with what you are using. That's what matters in this hobby I think. I've been happy with the YesWelder helmets I have and they are in my price range. LOL Have fun welding Chris 👍😀

I'm not sure I understand your question but I think you might be asking about my "cheater lens" that's attached inside the hood? That is optional and only required if you are old like I am and need reader glasses to read up close. If you are young and your eyes are good then no cheater lens is required with the welding hood.

Hello sir. Thank you for the video! I’m thinking of buying one of these helmets. Could you please say where can I buy cover lenses for them? I’m in Canada now. I’m going to do mig welding in this helmet and I will probably need a lot of lenses. I’m going to buy helmet on Amazon but they don’t provide additional lenses. Thank you in advance!

You can find replacement lenses for all the YesWelder welding hoods on the YesWelder web site. If you click on "shop" at the top of the page then select "Welding Helmets and Goggles" you should be able to find all the lenses for the different models of hoods. I'll leave a link below to the website and if you use my promo code at checkout you can get 10% off your order. DIYHP10% YesWelder - yeswelder.com/?ref=DIYHP10%25

I honestly don't know how often they restock the items. That hood will come with a lens in the hood and two replacement outer lenses if I remember correctly. I would think by the time you need them they should be available again hopefully.

Guys don't think those hoods are any good cuz there cheap. I have the all black original large screen and liked it so much i bought an atomic dice hood. They're really good especially for the price point.

Are the Q800 helmets worth the extra $20-$50? One more thing, why is the Ebay Q800D helmet cheaper than Amazon and the Yeswelder website?
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 3 жыл бұрын
Whether it's worth it or not is subjective. It really depends on what is important to you. If you prefer a panoramic style for welding around objects or tight places I'd say it's worth it. All my YesWelder helmets I have the True Color view. The weld puddle and surrounding area appear the same no matter the helmet as far as I can tell. Hope this helps you out.

Are the DN 5 viewing areas on the side safe if you end up turning your head while welding and the arc is shining right through them into your eyes? In case of the event that something happened that alerted your attention to turn your head by instinct, such as something heavy falling over.
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you will ever need to be concerned about that. You will not be looking through the side viewing areas directly at an arc. When you turn your head the welding hood turns with your head. Also if you did turn your head due to a distraction I doubt you would be continuing to maintain a welding arc at the same time. The side view windows have never created any problems for my welding or vision.
