Oh dear. I've done it again. The Colt has gone, the Rover died so I went car hunting once more. This is the full caper, from train station to my return home several hundred miles later. Which is why it's quite long...
Includes a 0-60mph acceleration test AND a bed test. Yes, really.
Filmed on my increasingly rubbish Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

Most (?) Honda automatics have no filter. Draining and refilling several times over a few months can dramatically improve shifts. Glad I found your channel. Hello from Stone Mountain, GA in the US.

+Andy Floyd Thanks! You're right. Since this was recorded, the transmission has had another flush, including all the cooler lines, and is now much better. Still not perfect, but it'll do.

That startup sounds just like a Honda, unmistakable.

£750?? Wow that was a bargain, for some reason I thought they might have been more expensive.

Compared to Bongos and Cubes, they're remarkably cheap.

As a man who likes a kip, I think fold flat seats are a great idea. However, I suspect there's little demand, that they're an expensive option, and that people who accidentally get them never use them. Ho hum.

I've slept in this several times. It isn't the flattest of beds, but it sort-of works. Great for a 15-min power nap on a long journey. Even has a bedside table in the back!

Excellent. It does open up some possibilities, but I doubt I'd ever want to pay for the privilege. That's quite a Swiss army knife of a car. I wonder if that's a popular Japanese approach, along with the boxy little Sei cars.

I do not like Cornwall either, nothing attractive in my eyes. Much prefer to go North, and head to the Highlands of Scotland and Islands 😍

Very few of these were imported from Japen, second hand I to NZ. All gone to the crushers by now I suspect

No, I did see one or two on my travels in NZ. Not as many as I expected. I think we have more of them in the UK!

It's sad that the Rover 600 was just a Honda Accord with a rover badge on it, just spoiled by the old BL "quality" issues that pretty much killed the british name car industry... :\ Still, this S-MX seems to be a nippy little thing though, and quite amusing that it's basically a big bed with an engine... :P Odd that Ford "came up" with a similar name of S-MAX though, probably trying to borrow some Honda credit in the motoring scene...

Did you sell the Colt on?

I did. Private raffle so ended up with a pal on the Autoshite forum. Probably for sale again. Poor thing is struggling to find a long-term home.

Cool vid mate! Also have an S-MX (just over 2 years now) which still goes like a dream except for a knocking sound somewhere in the rear suspension/torsion bar. Mine also does the weird rev/double clutch thing on down shifts so I suppose it's meant to do that! It also runs cool, well, takes awhile to warm up anyway. Much cooler than those s-cargo's or similar vans anyway. Check out mine here: www.cybait.com/locations.html :)

Yeah, mine has developed new clonks from the back end. Not ARB drop links, as I've replaced those. If it's running cool, get the stat changed. The torque converter works on mine now I've replaced the stat, which makes cruising quieter, and develops better economy. I'm getting 34 on a run.

It does appear to be out of sync. How annoying it's fine on my laptop so must be KZbin. I'm not uploading it again. Took over eight hours!

Sadly, yes. No interest in it as a project once the gearbox blew apart.

Ive never seen a Honda-SMX before but have seen plenty of Japanese imports like Honda Odyssey's . You rarely get a manual grey import from Japan.

Was it a gearbox or an automatic transmission? I've never heard of that problem with a manual.
@HubNut

+Don Little Manual. Very common problem on the Rover PG1 gearbox. Not an issue with the Honda manual. Plastic diff cage breaks up. Steel replacements are available, but this car had too many other issues. Quite a bit of rot, and it got damaged during recovery home (though I did get compensation for that).
