Before blackpink, K-pop idols did not have the kind of fashion/brand influence that they do now. Even if idols like IU and GDragon already had brand deals before blackpink, but they did not have the world’s attention n influence that blackpink did when they became global ambassadors. Due to the influence n impact BP girls brought to the brands they represented, now it is common sense for brands to use K-pop idols hoping for the same type of impact BP had.
