Thank you for the advice on the micro sd card getting too hot. I realized mine would record for only 30 seconds before cutting out and then recording for 30 seconds again.

You are welcome. I'm going to do further testing on the audio and see if it is my car, wiring in my car or just the camera itself. My other dash cam doesn't have this issue.

This camera does a bad job at focusing on license plates, even during daylight. I have it mounted where my rearview mirror is. Any tips getting it to focus on plates?

I had the same issue with their Yi Ultra Dashcam that I have to return and got me a replacement. It was focusing more on the windshield dirt than anything...

Great tutorial! Not sure if you've answered this but how many 3min clips did it record on your 16gb sd card before it started deleting old footage? Also which of allthe yi dashcams would you recommend, as price is wuite similar so thats not really an issue given they're all around the 50-150 mark Thanks!

With Yi dashcams, I'll go with the Yi mini dash cam just because it blends well and not in the way. It looks like it is an OEM part of the car -> amzn.to/2vEACqb

You think this is better than the silver Yi camera that is more well known? This gives the camera the stealth the other lacks but I am not sure if the quality is similar.

I haven't tested the silver model but if it is the same 1080p resolution, then the quality should be the same. As to the mount.. it only comes with a 3M adhesive mount...no suction mount.

Thanks for the review. I was just one click away of buying this at amazon but decided to look for reviews. I'm looking for an inexpensive camera that I can use as my rear camera and this seems to fit the budget. I"m looking of getting the Yi 2.7 or Yi 2.7 ultra as my front dash cam (Im also looking at DDPai mini). Dual Dash cam which are App enabled (wi fi) cost somewhere in the range of $300 and up. Seeing that you can use 2 cam on the same Yi App (from your video) answered my question of getting 2 Yi dash cam but only getting to use one App. What is the other Yi camera you are supposed to review? the Yi 2.7 or Yi 2.7 Ultra? I'll wait for that review before I click the amazon buy button..Lol...Thanks Pards.

I have the Yi Ultra Dash Cam 2.7...I had it for a while now but haven't started editing the videos and I have to say is I kinda liking the 1080/60 fps than the 2.7 setting on it and the same on my Viofo dash cam...The footage that i get from 2.7k on both dash cams have some choppiness and I think it might be because I have an older computer and might not be handling the bigger file size...I have to check it out on my son's computer and will be uploading the video review...Yes, on the Yi app, you can add more than one dash cam...I am also planning of putting a dash cam for the rear too...I think having 2 separate cameras is better than the dual cam system just because if one fails at least one will still be working...especially the SD cards.

How well would this perform as a rear camera? My rear window has a dark tint. Would this drastically reduce footage quality?

I think it should work ok... If you have a dark tint, the camera will compensate during daytime but I think it will be mostly dark footage or other cameras headlights at night.

It should work but I don’t know the longevity. I usually recommend high endurance cards.

You can change it in the settings... loop duration - 1 or 3 minutes... it records in segments so that old footage can easily be deleted..basically in 1 minute or 3 minute increments...

The choppy audio is most likely air rushing in from the outside(if your windows are open). Did you have your windows open? Also, it could be that the mount you are using is too stiff.

The windows were closed. I'm also thinking it might be the mount... I have to do further testing on it...

Its wind hitting a gap in the trim around the outside of your windshield, which is then being transmitted through the glass to the mount and then the camera. Might be inaudible to you while driving but I'd bet if you put a stethoscope to the glass next to the mount, you'll hear it. Its not unusual for small gaps in sealing of the trim to cause this, especially if you've had the windshield replaced. If you apply silicone caulking to the trim all around the windshield, it might go away.

Make sure the WiFi is on..try resetting..if still not working, then you might need to contact Yi..
