My Yi Dash Cam keeps on prompting to set the date and time whenever the car engine will power ON from engine off. Is that normal?

it keeps the old recordings up until card micro SD card is full then it overwrites.

The mount is actually not suction type that was used in the video it the sticking mount and cannot be moved once fixed.

How does automatic recording work? No one talks about it, but it's the most important feature. It starts recording when you start the car? What happens when the memory is full? Does it delete the old ones automatically or it stops recording?

if it receives 12v it will start recording as soon as the ignition comes on. But if you use a usb connector from the car to power it. It will only receive 5v then it will resort to options only like copying files to your computer.

When you say ' keeps cutting off ' you mean it switches off ? , try replacing the USB cable.

Thanks for the review! I was wondering if there is a way to get the clock off the camera display. In other words, when I'm driving I'd like to see the camera view or the live stream, not the time. I've tried adjusting the "standby clock display" both on and off and it doesn't matter which I choose, the clock comes on after about a minute of the live stream. Is that just the way it is with the Yi dash cam? Or is there a way to get rid of the clock and just see the live stream?

If you are in the UK, I checked on this earlier and its illegal to have it stream while you are driving, you would be charged the same as if you are looking at your phone. Obviously no one is going to be able to see that well into your car but I assume that is why the device switches and stays on the time whilst recording.

Noob question ? If yi cam is connectedto cigar port and you switch of the key how long is the stanby time before the yi cam will shutdown. And again if yi cam is connected to the cigar port and you switch on the key how long does the yi cam to turn on and it will start auto recording ?

the yi cam shuts off with in few seconds & turn on with in 2 seconds & starts recording lets say with in 5 seconds.

yes you can tilt ( move the cam manually up/down) and pan ( move the cam manually left / right ).

I also have this dashcam. I love it because it’s fairly cheap for a decent dash cam. If you do turn it or hit it too hard it will go into accident mode even if you haven’t been hit by another vehicle and save the footage from the past couple seconds.
