I have been returning 2 weeks ago to "Le bourget museum" to see the 2 Concordes. Walking under the white fuselage, watching the 4 engines and the landing gear, i finished my trip by the passengers cabin, i stopped closed to the cockpit, whose access is closed by a glass window. There are a lots of details of the technology used at this time. I was asking to myself: "how was is it possible for 2 french and english R&D teams to create a so sensual and beautifull plane by the years 60 and flying at mach 2?". Is it passion, transcended by the challenge? They didn't had the same power of computing like now. The legacy of Concorde is huge. congratulationq for ever. A former french air force.

Concorde was my first love. Just before my 8th birthday. My dad took me to Heathrow. At first I had no interest until 20 minutes later when Concorde appears. I didn't even cover my ears It was almost like she hypnotised me. That was my dream. To be a pilot and fly Concorde. Then 8 years later. I had the pleasure of a Grand stand seat to watch the final 3 landings at Heathrow. A unique but a very sad day. My dream was never going to be. Nothing will ever replace her. I owe my passion to aviation thanks to Concorde. She still is greatly missed 20 years on.

I can absolutely relate. As someone who watched G-BOAF land for the last time at Filton, see her bowing to her admiring crowds then turn away and become dormant for all time, (shutting down with some emotive music played) it was a very emotional moment for everyone, even the announcer on the tannoy cracked up... riding back to Southampton after on the train more tears flowed. It was sort of like the end of an inspiring part of my childhood, but much more, a symbol of British pride.

There will never be another commercial masterpiece like the glorious Concorde. It was beauty on another level, majestic in flight and frankly jaw dropping. Concorde has such a special place in my heart. If i had a girlfriend i would love her more but as it stands, Concorde is the closest thing to love in my heart. There is just something about how it moves in the sky and how gracefully it lifts off and lands and flies, and what makes me cry quite often when i watch these videos, including now, is seeing the last touch down, knowing it will never fly again and knowing i will never have seen it move or fly in real life. A beautiful bird locked away. In french its nickname was "le bel oiseau blanc" translated, that means the beautiful white bird. I believe in english it was either something with a swan, and the queen of the skies. To me Concorde is the real queen of the skies, not the 747.

I've been around aircraft my whole life, even military and then one day, I got to see the Concorde up close in action. There are no words. The best was in Phoenix, Arizona at Sky Harbor Airport. I was at the end of the runway on 24th street with a crowd of others and I had a dead straight view, center line, nose against the fence as it landed...but it didn't. It throttled up while almost touching down, that close, and made 2 very low fly-bys right over my head. No one expected that to happen. The noise of those throttled up engines and size overwhelmed me as it passed exactly overhead. I felt I could reach up and touch it. When it did finally land, there was that classic air swirl as it leaned back and that bent down nose stared at you as the wheels hit. No cell phone camera's back then and I had no video camera. I was driving back home from California and when I got within KTAR-AM radio range of Phoenix, I heard that the Concorde was arriving on time. I made it back and had about 25 minutes to spare. Big crowd waiting for it too. Some memories in life dull as time passes, but this one is etched in forever. I saw it two other times, but this beat everything. I wanted to see the Antonov 225, but that's forever gone now. Thanks Putin. Impressive is merely a word here.

I have memories of commuting home along the A41 corridor and watching Concorde in all her glory, landing bogies deployed, in that nose up tail down final approach configuration, 4 x Rolls Royce Olympus engines screaming blue murder as they powered her to her daily late afternoon landing at Heathrow airport. You always heard her long before you saw her. On weekends with the wind blowing in the right direction, you could hear her going to full thrust all the way from distant Wembley, West London, as she roared down the runway miles away at Heathrow, climbed into the skies and gracefully banked onto the appropriate heading for New York with her afterburners lit up. I miss that aircraft.

The only time I ever saw Concorde in a non airshow environment, I was laid on a beach in Dorset on a hot sunny day. I heard a "BOOM-BOOM" and thought it was thunder. I looked up, there was not a single cloud in the sky. Then out the corner of my eye I spotted a vapour trail rapidly approaching from the west heading in the direction of London. Right at the tip of this trail was a sleek white arrow, it was CONCORDE! I would guess she was at maybe 20,000ft. I discovered that when arriving from New York, they would have to start their landing profile while over Cornwall! I will never forget seeing or hearing Concorde that day.

Magnificent tribute to the optimism of the 1960s. 1969 first flight of Concorde and Moon Landing. First flight across the Atlantic 1973, First Commercial flight 1976. In July 1979 a month after my 26th birthday I was privileged to fly higher than many fighter jets at 58,000 ft and Mach 2.02 sipping champagne, London to New York in 3 hrs 23 mins. Left London at 11 am arrived New York 9.30 am. If you flew westerly after sunset you could experience sunrise in the west as you are flying faster than the rotation of the earth. At the time it was a bargain at 15% above First Class. In 1980 it was 50% above and by 1982 it was double.. I paid half and my company paid half.

What a great piece of engineering. I have to say that 1960-2000 where great time for engineering, for human beings, for hope and dreams. People with ther wisdom, hope, dreams changed a word completely. During those 40 years humans made such a things as: Sputnik, Soyuz, Saturn V, Apollo Lunar Module, ISS, Space shuttle, SR-71, Concorde, XB-70, F117, B2, RAH-66, aircraft carriers, McLaren F1, Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari F40, a whole bunch of scyscrapers where built. From 2000-2020 we invented mainly communications an IT in general. We live in such a boring days now: We just proposed Amazon, KZbin, Tiktok, Instagram. People do not meet each other anymore, they do not visit the family, cars are getting the engines from lawn movers, smartphones took over our lifes, shortly sex will be provided by robots...what a sad times :( Back in a days machines were more powerful, louder, faster and dangerous...now not only aircrafts have to be quite, more fuel eficient, more enviormental friendly, and cheap. Pushing the limits, dreaming big, making immposible is replaced by being safe and... sad :(

Super sad to see living legends go! Some time ago, the legendary Concorde (still my favourite plane), the only passenger airline to reach 60,000ft whilst travelling at 2X the speed of sound and now the legendary A380, the largest passenger aircraft to ever take to the skies. Hope to see them or another, better version of them come alive in the near future. RIP legends.

Chithmina Weliamuna defiantly man such a shame !! feels like we went backwards in time when they took away supersonic flight from the public , like you said I hope they create the new Concorde soon !! If you get the chance and your in Uk def go to Bristol Filton Concorde museum was amazing to see it !! All the best ✈️👍

Crazy to think seeing this in the skies was a normal childhood memory, now there’s future generations who won’t know her grace and magnificence. What a miss she is, the Queen of the skies.

One time, I‘ve seen a C starting at Heathrow ... We were sitting in an Airbus, the pilot informed us and all eyes out the window ... so amazing ... Best from Germany

When I visited my family in West Cornwall from Australia in the 80s & 90s, we’d listen in the evening for the muffled boom as she accelerated out over the Atlantic….. why do I feel like crying

I remember walking back to my brother’s house near Clapham Common and I looked up to see Concorde overhead, so close I felt I could touch her. That magnificent sight will be forever imprinted on my memory and this creation was when mankind rivalled the beauty of nature.

Used to live in North London then, you could hear her coming , used to go outside & watch her going over on her decent to Heathrow, a beautiful white Light at the front.... Amazing
