The couch made from the back of the tanker would make a great wedding photo setting. A little paint and either custom upholstery or an appropriately sized car seat. You should have or come across some 1000# casters like the ones I put under my rollaway toolbox to move it with. As you said, it looks really heavy. Great video, cheers from Denver

You put enough in the video to make me very happy. The crushing and loading. But wait, there's more. You had me laughing. With the heavy item in the car "as long as he doesn't speed up and then slam the brakes. I saw that in my head. Very funny. Then when you crushed the tanker. Round one, round two, round three, good enough. Had me going also. Great video.

The first black Caddillac is a 56 and the 2nd is a 63. The bumper on the taillight is straight up and down and the 64 is a slight angle from top to center and then angle back to bottom.

In the 70,s i worked with an older auto mechanic who would solder metal car fuel tanks with fuel in them using an acetylene torch. The trick was he would start another vehicle, take an exhuast hose from the running car and attach it to the tank. He said as long as you fill the air space with carbon monoxide the fuel would never burn. I witnessed it several times

To this day we weld on natural gas pipes under pressure and never with the pressure shut off. Pressure keeps the flame from getting into the pipes.

Seeing the yard being cleaned up is really good. I'm waiting for you to squish the old buses, no not your camp. You've made mention of the dilapidated house trailers as well. I would think the steel underframes would be worth the effort. But I know you know your time and business better than we visitors. Yard and videos keep getting better, Silas!
@AdventuresMadeFromScratch Жыл бұрын
The frame from a trailer house is worth about $300 for scrap. It costs about $1,000 in landfill fees plus many days worth of work to tear one apart. That’s kind of why it hasn’t happened yet 😆

One could make a really cool barbecue from that rear of the tank truck. Very unlike those made of "brick" that you buy from Home Depot or Walmart. They are a bakers dozen, but this would be something unique and the envy of anyone with a car themed man cave. I would pay good money for it but I live in small apartment in Sweden so......

I am surprised that someone tossed new exhaust pipe like that because its the same stuff you buy as a kit to make your own exhaust stuff. Last car out had the nose clipped and trunk was a older two door hardtop, I have a feeling it might still get a new set of quarters on its rear end and then its just assemble it again. See here in Alaska, that is still premium metal. Also the Dakota, Ranger, and S10 frames are so popular as frames for hot rods to go on. I think your doing quite commendable on this clean up. I have seen some incredible rigs in that collection. I so wish we were closer or easier to go through Canada for us Alaskans.... a lot of us are not allowed to go through the border just because of mistakes made as a kid. Silas, its a beautiful yard now but I am sure that snow is going to take out a lot of trees yet... might want to see about topping some of them so it doesn't crush a rig worth a ton. And yes I get it, wish you would of if it fell on a rig and if it doesn't then saved some cash.... hard to draw that line

A friend of mine used to have a 58 Cadillac. That thing was huge. You could sit on the back seat and stick your legs out and not hit the front seat. If you were ever in a head on crash, you would be airborne headed for the front of the car since rear seat belts were not included.

I have met Many fans of Silas and adventure made from scratch. They all say the same thing. He is trying to save the old cars and the other people in the business do not. As far as that AMC eagle that's a pretty good selling tactic to be saying you might have scrapped it if you had some more time before prices drop. I'll go ahead and tell a couple of AMC guys that you have the AMC eagle. Wife really enjoyed your little kid matchbox Hot Wheels story. Brought back memories. This is a great addition of silas's chop shop, or we crush them. but first we save them!
