Hello yimin. Thank you for explaining the difference betwwen liau jie and li jie. If possible, can you further extend this vidoe to explain 3 other words that i have encountered in lessons that also indicate "Understand"? The other words i encountered are "Zhi dao le", "Ming bai", and "Dong". This way i can further understand when any of the 5 should and shouldn't be used. Thank you so much for all your hard work in teaching us.

还是 is for questions and 或者 is for statements :D. 你去, 还是他去？Are you going or is he going? 我晚餐吃面条或者米饭。 I have noodles or rice for dinner. I'm not a native speaker, so I hope these sentences are correct.

The difference is that when you say 认识 you know who is that person but if you say 了解 as it was mentioned which about information you know what that person is like. his/her characters/what food/colors he/she likes and so on.

We do not usually say 你了解他吗？ 我了解他。 It’s correct but wired. We usually say 你对他了解吗？ 我对他比较了解/还算了解/很了解。
