It was seen as a time when after the medieval “Dark ages” the culture was finally getting back to higher levels. Inventions, art, architecture, knowledge. So it would fit the post cataclysmic rebuilding :) And renaissance has its roots in Italy so that would fit too :)

I think it is expected to have a male character after camellya patch, if my theory is correct, they will release 1 Male and 4 female characters and then 1 male. Like, [(Male) Jiyan] [(Female) Yinlin, Jinhsi, Changli, Zhezhi], [(Male) Xiangli Yao ] [(Female) Shorekeeper, Youhu, Camellya, Lumi] [(Male)..... and so on, It is not actually fully true since the observable sample is few. So let's hope this is true..

sadly leaks suggest that there is not going to be a male character in 2.0, but somewhere along the lines of 2.1-2.4. and as you might expect, the phrolova model is a skin over rover.. sanhua has a demon mask instead of a kitsune mask. also the camellya icons leaks isnt correct aswell, since its the old icons from the beta and have been changed since..

@@devinroi3886 I don't particularly love that either. I'd prefer if we can pick whoever we like on a side quest / companion quest, instead of being forced to have a harem on the main quest. It's just spoiling the good lore and ends up very repetitive Also: it's worse if it's straight for me, because I am a biromantic gay, so even if I do get attached to a woman romantically, I can never see them sexually and it annoys me when the community sees them as sexual objects due to how they're portrayed in the story & the fandom (treat them as people dammit :/ wouldn't be a problem if so many posts weren't thirst posts / were character appreciation posts instead) It especially annoys me when it's a one sided love kind of thing though. The MC is worshipped, but Shorekeeper is doing anything for him/her, whilst said MC is gonna move to the next harem member next time. And it sounds like a one sided relationship that narcissistic people or people who can never get laid irl would enjoy very much Rover is way too much Mary Sue / Gary Stu esque as of now. Practically perfect, a God, wowow the universe revolves around them... But they seem like a regular joe. Too good of a fantasy to be true XD I want a MC who has a voice (and no unvoiced lines). One that is loyal and humble and actually has values. One that's fighting for the better, yet, also has flaws and character development that can be seen. Back to the point: If it's lesbians I can at least detach myself entirely from the MC and it's less uncomfortable, since I could never see myself doing such a thing to anyone (I think it's poor characterization from Kuro's part, but most are too caught up in their own hormones to notice. The 1.3 update was like icing without a rich cake as a foundation)
